I don't blame Jimmy for wanting a 5 year deal, and I'm pretty sure someone will be dumb enough to give it to him, most likely the Giants. I'd rather it not be the Phils, I would max out at 3, maybe with a club option for a 4th. But if he gets a 5 year offer, then thanks for the memories Jimmy.
And I don't want any part of Reyes, he's a selfish player who has had groin/hammy problems every year. Someone will give him 7 years at 16-18 per and be disappointed with the results.
I'm thinking it will be Freddy Galvis or a FA fill-in until Galvis is deemed ready.
Reyes had a great year last year, and he's had an impressive career to this point. I have suspicion though, that he had his career year (last year) and will never get there again. He will be overpaid.
And I agree with you, I don't want him, plainly based off his persona/attitude.
I wonder if Jimmy truly thinks he can/will get 5 years at $10 million a year. He might be playing the game and setting his bench mark in the clouds knowing that teams will need to talk him down from at least that amount.
A team like San Fran or Boston who ALWAYS lacks a star SS despite being stacked everywhere else I'm sure would just give him his 5 years and swallow the contract if he falls apart after 3.
I think I would like to move Chase to first while Howard is out, sign Willie Bloomquist as the temporary 2nd baseman to fill in for Utley while he is at first and then have him be the utility IF/OF just like he did for the Diamondbacks this year. Have Mayberry/whoever RAJ signs platoon in left. Signing Bloomquist allows for a good backup for Polanco to in the event that they send Martinez down and is a more powerful complement to Valdez. I'd also sign Michael Wuertz out of Oakland. He was just released.
If he can be our 5th starter, I will be ****ing happy.
Honestly, I would be all for it.
If for nothing else than just the historical factor involved. How many pitchers pitch into their 50's?
Give him a one year deal and see what he can do.
Plus, he needs 33 more wins to get to 300 for his career.
I know it's really really far fetched. But if anyone can do it, why not Moyer?
He obviously has the desire.
You look at both of these teams, and they bring guys in who no one has ever heard of who knows how to hit the ball. Everyone on their bench pretty much has a situation where they start, while someone else sits and it's not because of injuries or poor performance.
I'm blaming the Phils for this entire mess. St. Louis will probably win game 7.
I agree about the Cardinals winning later tonight. But I blame the 8 game losing streak. I wasnt in favor of tanking against the Braves due to the fact that they had just lost 8 out of 9 games. If they win 2 or 3 of those games I dont think they play all their starters that final series. That being said I dont think they would beat the DBacks, but would have beat the Brewers.

I lump the 8 game losing streak into the whole aformentioned "mess." Of course that streak started against the Cards, and if they win 1 or 2 more games of that 4 game series the Cards are either in a 1 game playoff, or out of it altogether had the Phils played a little better and not needed to feel the need to play the way they did against the Braves as you noted.
As for the D'backs, I think they could've done okay. Probably better than how they did against a team in the Cardinals that was incredibly hot and had pitchers the Phils have trouble hitting. They played them well at home in their last 3 game series and the only loss then was the 9th inning implosion by Doc. The series in Arizona was lost because Oswalt was hurting and Cliff was having his early struggles. Then again Cliff struggled with a 4-0 lead and Oswalt wasn't great either in the playoffs. And who's to say the bats would've woke up against Arizona?
I guess this is all academic at this point, and the fact remains that I'm still bitter over the Phils losing to the Cards. I hope Texas doesn't blow this early lead. E: Of course they blow it. In the bottom of the same inning no less.

You make very good points, I just think they would have had problems with Kennedy/Hudson as well. I do think they would have beat the Brewers had they advanced. Im over the loss, I was the day after. Their offense are currently constructed isnt good enough to win a World Series imo. They give away too many ab's.
