"Don't be surprised if Vladimir Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez, Xavier Nady, or Manny Ramirez wind up with the Phillies. The Phillies really want to add a righthanded hitter who can pinch hit and occasionally play the outfield. However, they’re extremely close to luxury tax territory."
I know everyone was always saying how left hand heavy we were, but we really weren't, it was just that our power was left handed. Without Howard to open the season, we're going to be almost entirely right handed or switch.
If the NL had the DH I would be all for it, but Vlad and Magglio cant field. it was painful watching Vlad play the outfield in San Francisco during the world series.

Yeah but they aren't bringing these guys in to be fielders. They are bench players. Remember Matt Stairs...
Don't think Vlad or Manny would be bench players. Maggs is still a good player, just not as mobile, same with Vlad. Doubt they're willing to take that job. Nady might be another story, he doesn't really fit in with those names anyway.

I don't know...Vlad is what 37 or 38? He'll be lucky to get anything that isn't a DH offer. Same thing with Ordonez. Neither guy is going to be a starting OF (barring an injury to another player). They are going to be bench players or DHs. Magglio hasn't played a full season since like 2009. That being said, I'm sure both would prefer a DH role, the question is whether AL teams need one of them at whatever price they are asking. I don't know what teams need a DH (Blue Jays are the only team I can think of), but if given the chance to be a bench player on a WS competing team with some spot starts coming here and there or being DH for the Blue Jays at this point in their career, I think they'd both prefer the chance for the WS ring. I just hope it isn't Manny.

I'm not doubting they'll get DH offers, they absolutely will. I have almost no faith they'll accept an offer from an NL team just to be a bat off the bench.

Who is going to give them a DH offer? Look at the teams in the AL, very few, if any need a DH.
EAST:
Baltimore let him walk.
Boston/NY have no need.
Tampa Bay has a solid DH already (Luke Scott).
Toronto probably needs one but doubt they pay for Vlad or Magglio.
CENTRAL:
Minny has Doumit, a solid DH.
Chicago has a ton of money tied up Adam Dunn.
Cleveland has Travis Hafner, though I think I read somewhere they are looking to trade him so maybe this would be a fit.
Detroit has a number of guys that could be their DH.
KC has a DH and I doubt either guy would want to go their if they didn't.
WEST:
Texas has one of the better DHs in the league.
LA has Abreu.
Oakland maybe, but I have been reading that they are interested in Manny.
Mariners just traded for Montero.
So there you have two teams (Toronto and Cleveland) that could probably use a DH. If Oakland passes on Manny then I guess you could include them too. I'd bet even if Cleveland and Toronto both offer Magglio or Vlad a contract to play DH, one of them would pass in order to play for an NL contender (not necessarily Philly, but an NL contender). If they are offered a starting OF position, that is a different story. But the DH position is pretty well solidified at this point.
Also I think you are forgetting how old these guys are. Vlad is 37, Magglio is 38. Magglio hasn't played 100 games since 2009. I doubt too many teams are itching to sign a 38 year old plagued with injury.

Oakland has about 9 OF's, one of which will be DHing.
Yeah and they just signed Cepedes too. It's not a lock Vlad or Magglio comes here, but I don't think it is out of the question, especially if the Phillies are in fact interested as reports have suggested.
EDIT: My only concern is just who is going to be on this bench. They signed Nix already, and Juan Pierre got a minor league deal. So I guess they'd go with a five person bench...
Thome, Nix, Vlad/Magglio, Martinez, Schneider, (Orr somewhere in there)? I assume Wiggington will get the bulk of the starts at first until Howard is ready...although I suppose it wouldn't be out of the question to stick Mayberry or Utley there? Can't wait for this season to start...
The last I heard he was supposed to start doing "baseball" activities in February. But haven't heard anything about him actually doing these activities.

NYY are looking at Ibanez as a DH, and V-Mart is out for the year for DET, I wouldn't count them out. There are still a few options there, and I don't believe an NL team is one of them.
I heard May or something like that. I could be wrong. But they aren't going to rush him with 3 guys (Thome, Mayberry and Wigginton) able to play the position.

I'd be surprised if you see him in the lineup before the middle of June.

As far as the Yankees go, they are looking at Ibanez, not Vlad or Magglio. Detroit I guess could be a destination, however they have a couple guys already that could fill that role and I haven't heard anything about them looking into a DH anywhere. Again, I'm not saying any of this means they are coming here or going to an NL team for sure, but with the slim DH market and chance to play for a contender like Philly, I don't think it is out of the question. They are both pushing 40 and one has been plagued with injury last two years. They aren't exactly spring chickens.
Even when he returns I am not confident he will be all that productive. That injury usually takes over a year to truly lose all side effects and we saw how bad Utley looked last season coming off a less serious knee injury.
USA Today ran a "Meanest Sports Fans" article today, typical Eagles spot held because of booing Santa , but Phillies fans also made the list. USA Today says that Phillies fans sometimes run on the field, and booed the team at the championship parade .
The only booing I remember was when Jimmy said something about the Mets (didn't Jose declare the Mets the team to beat in the beginning of the season?), and the fans booed the Mets, not their team that just won the World Series.

Total crap.
Meh... typical. Just trying to sell papers; dumping on Philly fans is easy and appeals to the non-Philly masses. But booing the Phillies at their championship parade? What?!?!?! I was there, and, like you said, the only time there was booing was when Jimmy mentioned the Mets. Otherwise it was an outright love-fest that lasted the entire day. Philly fans may be a lot of things, but booing the first team to win a championship in this city in 25 years? The mind boggles. You'd be hard-pressed to find more appreciative sports fans in any city. That 2008 Phillies team will forever be cherished and adored. Get a clue, *******s.

I usually brush these types of articles aside because of the cliche crap that is vomited out by these "journalists". But, the booing of the 08 Phils during the parade was a new jab I have not seen taken in previous Philly-terrible-fans articles.
I could only watch the parade on TV, so thanks for confirming (since you were there) that the only booing was when Jimmy mentioned the Mets.
Here is the actual caption for the Phillies fan running on the field:
"Drunken Phillies fans have been known to disrupt games by running on to the field, boo their team during its World Series parade and vomit on children." - USA Today
