Flyers West is soooo stacked.
In all seriousness, I think we all saw something like this coming.

Yea, you gotta figure that once he showed his dong on twitter and deleted his twitter account, it was going downhill.

All it does is gives us a contract space to keep Couturier past the 9 games.
Its all but a sure thing at this moment Couturier is on the team the rest of the season.

Keeps us legally under the 50 contract limit with Couturier in the lineup.

It doesn't matter with regards to the cap, but it takes a contract away and now we can keep Couturier up the entire season if we want to.

What? I never heard of this. Anyway, I'm just happy to free up a roster spot. Guess this means Couturier is staying past 10 games.

Paul Holmgren must have been reading HF boards earlier today when I said that there was no reason for Legein to be in our camp.

Yea let me just say i was one of the unlucky individuals who clicked on the twitter picture.
Just didnt say anything since it... ya know, was just Legein.
EDIT: I remember we talked about it on the Phantoms thread about a year ago. A few others saw it also.

You cannot waive an injured player.
Shelley is the one that needs to go. What the hell is Homer playing at. Send his sorry arse down.

The Flyers announced on Wednesday that they traded 22-year-old Stefan Legein, along with a sixth-round pick, to the Los Angeles Kings for future considerations.
Legein was traded to the Flyers in October 2009 from the Columbus Blue Jackets for fellow minor leaguer Mike Ratchuk. He had five goals and 12 assists in 41 games with the Adirondack Phantoms last season.
While it remains to be seen what the Flyers get in return, it will probably be some form of draft pick. By letting Legein loose, the Flyers shed themselves of a contract, allowing Sean Couturier to stay past the 11 games before the Flyers would have to make a decision as to whether he’d stay with the NHL or go back to his team in juniors.
The Flyers were at 50 contracts after Blair Betts was returned to the team following a failed physical when he was claimed by the Montreal Canadiens. The Flyers are now at 49 contracts, with Couturier being “slide eligible.” If he stays past his 11th game played, his contract will also count against the limit and the Flyers will return to the maximum 50.

I'm no expert on the CBA and the intricacies of the rules governing transactions, but this trade prompts me to wonder whether people are going to start accusing the Flyers and Flyers West of some sort of collusion.

I must be stupid but I don't get this.
Why do we give up Legein AND a 6th instead of just release Shelley and/or Betts???
Are we not allowed to do this or what? Money can't be the problem, is it?
Please explain this to me...
