Per Bob MacKenzie, Kyle Cuminsky has been placed on waivers.
Aha, thanks for this. He must be free of concussion symptoms now. Good for him in that aspect. I actually would not be shocked if someone picked him up (someone in desperate need of a PMD). EDIT- healthy groin, not concussion!
Thought he had a 2-way contract and didnt need to be put on waivers?
Nevertheless I don't care if he gets claimed.
Two-way contract only means that his salary differs in the NHL versus the AHL if he were to be sent down. Two-way contracts do not exempt the player from waivers.
I am a little curious on how the process works though. If you're on the IR can you be put on waivers? And, if not, is there a certain time frame that you have to stay on the IR similar to how baseball does it? (i.e. 15 day, 30 day, etc).

Thanks for any info in advance.
I always thought the NHL's IR policy was seven days, but I have NO idea where I am getting that number from...
...I am probably way off base here. Yeah, if anyone knows, we would love to know!

You can't be waived when you're injured. So I would assume he's fully healthy.
I had a minute to go to Wikipedia and found the NHL's IR policy.
Quote:
In the event that a player is injured and a Club wishes to place him on the Injured Reserve List the Club must follow these procedures:
-A club may place a player on the Injured Reserve List if such player is injured, disabled or ill and unable to perform his duties as a hockey player after having passed the Club's initial physical examination in that season.
-A player who has an injury that renders him physically unable to play for a minimum of seven days after that date of the injury can be placed on the Club's Injured Reserve List. -Once a player is placed on the list, the Club may replace said player on its NHL roster with another player. All determinations that a player has suffered an injury warranting injured reserve status must be made by the Club's medical staff and in accordance with the Club's medical standards.
-A player placed on Injured Reserve is ineligible to compete in NHL games for a period of not less than seven days.
-Players on Injured Reserve may attend team meetings and meals, travel with the team and participate in practices.
It's kind of odd to sign this guy right before training camp only to put him on waivers the day before the regular season begins. Perhaps they are sick of him being perma-injured.
I think the Oilers probably pick him up since they have quite a few regulars that are injured.
