wow!!

there's the #1 center that the Flames needed, without having to spend too much, and still kept Reinprecht...

I think the Flames just improved themselves a lot today.

I am in shock. Flames got the center they've been looking for -- nice move Sutter! Sad to see Saprykin go though.

Wow, what a great off season for Phoenix.

And a great trade for Calgary too. This addresses their need for depth down the middle.

The coyotes...Hull-Nedved-Doan....possible line maybe?

As for the Flames, Langkow replace Conroy, good move by the Flames, I'm was not so high on Saprykin.

Damn, The coyotes with all those signing andtrading, has to much forwards...

Great move by Phoenix if you factor in that they signed Nedved who's also a 2nd line center and got Saprykin and Gauthier in return. I just hope Mike Johnson will still be able to score .

As an Oiler fan, I'm wondering if contract negotiations with Nedved and Lowe were that far off. I'd be pissed off if Lowe lost him because he lowballed him.

The Phoenix Coyotes are now the NY Rangers of the West....meaning that half their team are Ex-Oilers.

I'm a bit shocked by Langkow for Gauthier + Saprykin from the Coyotes end, but I suppose in the big picture it works for them. Still though, I don't know. Calgary just got a whole lot better.

Ni kidding...they have made some really astute moves this year. They are going to have to take some time to get to know each other with all the new additions, but I think it can not be understated what a huge advantage they have over other teams in having most of their players inked. They have a slew of young players and a nice mix of character forwards. This is going to be a great team in the future....maybe lacking a little in top end talent, but the type of guys they have, a godd coach will be able to make a pretty darn good playoff run.

Good trade for the Flames as well. It pulls away one of Edmonton's options and gives them a great two way warrior that can put up points. They now have 2 #2 centres and at a pretty reasonable price. Gauthier and Saprykin is not a very high price. Saprykin will be completely replaced by Kobasew IMO and was in need of a change of scenery even though he had a fairly good run in the playoffs.

Nice moves for both teams. Congrats to both organizations on this one.

Doan-Comrie-Hull
Nagy-Nedved-Johnson

Then you can mix and match Chimera, Taffe, Kolonos, Saprykin etc. for the 3rd and 4th lines.

Phoenix looks alot better. All they need is a reliable goalie.

Calgary now has Langkow-Reinprecht down the middle. Nice.

Can someone please post all the Phoenix players under contract and RFAs. Just curious to see what they have after all these moves. Thanks in advance.

Good trade for both teams, although I think the Flames might end up regretting giving up on Saprykin...

I am not sure I understand what the New York Rangerrrrrs, I mean Phoenix Coyotes are doing??? They'll have to spend the first day of training camp introducing themselves to each other. But, hey, you've got to give the benefit of the doubt to Barnett and Gretzky...I mean with their great track record and experience as GM's and all. Maybe in three or four years the team will have some chemistry?

AND, for whoever said that Langkow is a #1 center, my response is:

:lol

Holy crap, Doan, Comrie, Nagy, Hull, Nedved, and Johnson in the top 6. That's insane. Add Ricci on the third line and this is one hell of a team.

PHO has done a very amicable job in restructering their team and being fiscally responsible about it.

However, the success of this team really will turn on the quality and consistency of their goaltending. Judging the past of both goaltenders, it should be an interesting ride between the pipes.

The only thing missing for the Coyotes to MAKE the playoffs is goaltending, you cannot win with Boucher or Jonhson. They should have push to sign Weekes.

Great deal - Montador/Commodore proved during the playoffs that they can more than handle Gauthier's minutes, (at half the cost). Saprykin looked to be close to breaking out, but when you have the opportunity to get a 27-28 year old consistent point producer, you've got to pay some of the price.

Just freakin sign Iggy!!!!!

(Phoenix's D's beginning to look like the Flames circa 2000 - Morris, Hulse, Gauthier - where's Bouchard and Simpson!!!)

True. They are both streaky goaltenders. But, given the firepower added this offseason, I don't think it's out of hte realm of possibility to think that the Yotes might be able to contend for the division next season.

Great trade, both sides should be somewhat happy.

Here is some more to that:

Morris-Mara
Tanabe-O'Donnell
Gauthier-Hulse

a playoff blueline for sure, they have very versatile defensemen, and beyond Morris posing for a #1, all 6 guys are going to play their role really well.

What the ****.

I had no idea anything like this would come. I'm very sorry to lose Daymond, but when all this talent comes back, it's tough to be too upset.

Fills a lot of holes though.

Hull-Comrie-Doan
Nagy-Nedved-Johnson
Saprykin-Ricci-Sjostrom
Taffe-Rupp-Kolanos
Cleary-Westrum-Nash
Chimera-Deveraux-Westrum

Ahem...6 lines?

Morris-Mara
Tanabe-O'Donnell
Hulse-Gauthier
Ference-Spiller
Ballard

That looks solid. So much freaking depth.
