Like someone suggested, I e-mailed Cogen about it (jcogen@nashvillepredators.com)...and about the weird concession stand situation and lack of ticket-taker at a 6th Avenue entrance, and he answered me within 10 minutes saying he'd forward the concerns to the appropriate people. Pretty cool.
Quick note of something that has been annoying me for months. Why does everyone call our home jerseys gold? They aren't gold, they're yellow. The marketing department continues to praise gold, but the bottom line is it certainly doesn't seem like it to me.
O'Reilly/Bergfors are too redundant and weak defensively. I think the Predators could easily ice 4 make shift defensive/scoring lines, especially if they called up Taylor Beck. However, I like the lineup as listed above.
Totally agree. It's ok to be an offensive forward, but you have to create offense, neither of these guys are.
Not the start you want for your home opener. ac ouple of quick thoughts:
1. the talk about pregame. Part of me wants to say they knew the Belak tribute was coming. I am sure none of them were looking forward to it. It is still a heavy thing to deal with for them I am sure.
2. I don't know who to contact, but the opening video needs to be set to Run this Town. It gets the crowd into it, it is catchy. that crap last night was depressing. Run this town, horn, thunderstruck. this isn't rocket science.
3. Bergfors was terrible. Goal one was on him for not covering point. And had two wide open chances that I coulda buried. Terrible night for him. I assume he will get another look at some point, but yuck.
4. the whitney goal was a good shot. anyone who gets a shot off clean at a goalie means there was a breakdown somewhere, but he just beat Rinne. not to mad about that one. however letting boedeker come in and scoop up a rebound unmolested was terrible. Klein and blum did not have that strong a game. Teh backhand that beat rinne was crap. no excuse for that.
5. I never want the team to give out gold t-shirts again.
I agree the shot by Whitney was a nice one but Klein watched that shot like it was his. All around terrible game for our team, with a few exceptions, wilson/suter. Klein has to be more aggressive, he has always blocked shots since i can rememeber, hes no Zanon but he can get it done.
Heres to crushing the devils

The power play needs to skate more. On both power plays, the puck holder set up on the half board and looked for someone to pass to. The Coyotes just sat back in their box covering the passing lanes and the puck holder had no where to go. Suter needs to shoot more. Oh and I hate when everyone is the arena yells shoot. There is no place to shoot when the goalie is squared up to the shooter and no one is skating to open up the passing lanes. The key is to get the goalie moving, not let him get set.
All in all, pretty piss poor performance from the team. Let’s hope they work on defensive zone break outs and come out Saturday ready to whip some ass.
Yeah last night we were moving the puck decently on the PP and about 15 seconds in everyone just starts booing and yelling shoot.... I cant stand that garbage. Its called getting open and strategy not just shoot from any angle, it has to make our players jumpy. during the PP they should have like a golf sign up on the jumbotron "Quiet Please" until we score, or until the PP is over then we can boo or throw peanuts.

Google search for "yellow"
I'm with ya. Yellow is a color. Gold is a metal.
Salmon isn't a color either but every time you ask my aunt what color she painted her living room you'll get a, "Salmon Sunrise" as a response.
I'm cool with the marketeers pushing the Gold Outs, Behold the Gold and so forth but the jerseys are yellow. And blue. Unless we want to start calling that cobalt.

To be fair, it's more of a yellow/orange hybrid. Calling it yellow doesn't do it justice, it's not Boston yellow.
Edmonton is "copper" and blue. I have no problem with them calling it gold.
I hope Taylor Beck lights it up the next couple of weeks for the Ads and gets a call-up. He is my favourite offensive prospect we have and I think he's the type of guy we need.
Plus, guys you need to remember that it might be good for some of these young players to get a reality check. They need to know it's not all plain sailing in the NHL.
I'm sure captain fantastic, Shea Weber, shuts the mouths of the haters in our next game and we try and find our identity for this season.
Oh and gold may not technically be a colour, but some of you guys have obviously never heard of 'marketing'. It's a good strategy to establish our identity as gold as it is far more catchy and exciting than just yellow...

(on the color thing) It's semantics. They are a shade of yellow that someone decided to call gold. No big deal really. If you like them, you like them. If you don't, maybe you will eventually. Or maybe not.
I think the particular color of yellow/gold may be tradmarked by the team. I know that UT orange is a tradmarked color that cannot be used without a license. I've heard several different members of the organization (players, Crispy, Cogen) compare Predator gold to Tennessee orange. They want the color to become part of our identity. It's branding 101. It's distinct and hopefully unique.

I totally understand everything you said, and it's very practical and logical.
However......when I go to put on a Predators t shirt and go around town, I'm not putting on a pukey gold/orange color that looks like crap against my skin. I'll go buy another blue one for this year.
That color of the t shirts last night...........90% of the women out there will not put that on willingly. That is what the owner/focus group did not take into account.
Yes, I'll wear the new gold jersey to the game.......but around town, someone else will have to take one for Predator pride...cause I sure am not.

um, yeah, we do know what marketing is, thank you.
since you are apparently in the uk , you probably don't know that vanderbilt university here has used gold and black here as their identity for decades. but that is gold, not the pukey orange/yellow cheeto mix in the t shirts. the jerseys are a touch better, and more toward yellow than cheeto color.
gosh, when we have a horrid game, we can talk about anything.

UT orange looks the same against the skin tone of most folk. But if you're a fan, you love it and wear it with pride. If you aren't a fan, that shade of orange is hideous. My wife isn't a fan, and takes every opportunity to tell me how awful it is. Kinda makes me like just a little more.

LOL... good for you... luckily my hubby is just happy i'm all in for the Preds and I'll just continue to sport the blue tshirts on non game days.
I understand totallly where you are coming from tho, and if it becomes 1/10 as predominant as ut orange.... I just may have to change my mind and wear that color around on non game days.
I have to say, I get in some great conversations when people see me wearing my preds t shirt...
When I think of "gold" I think of my old high school (Mt. Juliet represent) which was "black and gold". I think of Vandy. I think of Purdue. I think of Mizzou. When I see our jerseys I think of Michigan's "maize and blue".

By 'we' do you mean just you, because I live in the UK I have a right to be a Predators fan and field my opinion. Oh, and on that point, my opinion is valid.
As I stated, gold is technically not a colour, so your perception of it on Vanderbuilt's jerseys are irrelevant. Plus, black is the primary colour on their unis anyway.
I don't know what I said was incorrect, it is a marketing technique. Plain and simple, gold sounds better than yellow. Your perception of whether the jersey is gold or not is irrelevant seeing as it is not even a distinguished colour.

Yeah, you really have to have a "warm" complexion to look really good in that shade of orange, but en masse you don't look at the individuals, you just see the orange. I think it's gorgeous. (This is required of UTK graduates, by the way.) I know exactly how you feel about liking it just a little more because others hate it--both for UT orange and the mustard jersey.
I think the gold jerseys look great.
BTW--if anyone gets a Preds T-shirt they don't want, give it to me! I have family, friends, and some interesting clients I give them to.

no , I was saying since you didn't seem to live here you might not know about Vanderbilt....and black has NOT always been their primary color.
it's a question of geography and living here as a Vanderbilt fan for 40 plus years.
