This is exactly what I was told from a friend of mine that works in the executive offices at MSG. Nothing is official or been decided. But MSG believes people will pay up for center ice just as they have for the lower level. There will be a very small section of $50 tickets or maybe even cheaper. But they will be awful seats behind the net/corners where the Rangers shoot once...

And yes there will be a lot of people not renewing but that will just allow the brokers who already have 1500 seats in the building to have more... MSG cut a deal this yr with them and they seem to like how that's worked out.

But I would be shocked if they only increase the back centers by 15% to $45. All I'm saying is get ready to be hammered big time this summer if you sit in the 300s or 400s. It's coming. As they say, "Hockey's Different Here".
Weren't your seats also made club seats? That's the reason why that hike was that extreme. Ranger tickets went up 23 percent this past season (I believe that was the number) and that's including the addition of the new club seats since they expanded them higher which inflated the number. I think they will jack it up but not to 60. 45-50 is what I believe it will end up being but we'll see I suppose.

Interesting how NHL clubs have cut these deals with brokers. The Ducks have done the same thing. There are rumors out here that the Duck owners have a financial interest in the broker that sells tickets that are picked up across the street from the arena. They will sell upper level seats for $8. Gets people into the building and allows the Ducks to maintain their pricing structure. I just bought seats for the Winnepeg game (will be in NYC) and got them off the MSG ticket exchange cheaper than if I would have bought the crappier seats from the Rangers directly.

I talked to someone I know at MSG and they expect a strong renewal rate plus there is now a wait list which they have not had in 6 years. I think that selling to brokers is a good thing since then the price of the ticket is based on what the market will bear. I don,t make a lot of money and the Rangers are my main luxury and I pay over $14,000 for my seats and it is well worth it for me.

Yup, as I've said many times, from a value proposition watching at home in HD is the winner. My 112" screen makes for a great viewing experience, and I generally know before anyone else what actually happened on the ice. Granted, you don't get the same "electricity" that you do at the garden (on certain games), but for the most part it's more enjoyable to be able to eat, drink and watch the game in 112" of HD like a king from the comfort of my own home than spend $$$$ to see it live. I still have 2 pairs of seasons, but I sell most of them. Sure, come playoffs I'll take a few games in live...but for the most part during the regular season it's a much better value staying home.

Anyway, there is a good reason 'skywalks' will become popular: Its turning unused space (empty air nobody ever uses) into profit generating functions. You get to cram a few hundred more people into a building without changing the size/volume.

Yep. I don't really mind them as long as there is no obstruction of view.

FWIW: Tried the Daily Burger the other night: Outstanding! For $9.00 burger I must say: worth it, and the fries were excellent as well.

That one is a winner.

Have also recently tried the chees bratwurst, which was pretty good. Have not had the Itakian sausage yet, but that looks worth a try at least.

I am so excited about the Renovated Garden plus the fact that the Rangers look like they might make a 4-7 year run. As someone who goes to 10-20 games a year it is a great time to be a STH

Yeah, absolutely... I'm not giving up my STs no matter how much Dolan may make me hate his guts.

Stupid questions of the Day;

The team shop inside msg, is it open always or just when the garden is hosting something?

Also do they just sell hockey items when there's a game or do they sell it also when there's other event's in the garden?

Thinking about coming to NYC in may and would like to visit the team store..

Also, is the little merchandise shop next to the ticket boots still there??

Does anyone know if The Prime Rib is still part of the MSG food concessions? That place was awesome. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had.

theres no way its a half pound burger.. its good but its not even close to being worth the price.

last year the burger was a double cheeseburgeer with waffle fries for 9.75 (same price as chicken and fries). they really hosed us on this one.

shake shack on 43rd & 8th, The Counter on 41st & B'way, or even Brother Jimmy's across the street from MSG both make better product for cheaper.

I also believe its like $16 or something like that. $18 for the brisket IIRC. Insane prices for cafeteria food.
