I've thought this for a while (not because of game 1) but I think Oduya is the odd man out of the blueline. We'll see what his value is though.

Antropov

I dont dislike him, he can be a valuable player at times. But I feel he will get dealt this season.

Hainsey.

He's an older guy who left his family in Atlanta when the team moved. I could see him asking to be dealt somewhere closer to them in the SE.

Plus he's making 4.5 million to be our 4th/5th defenseman.

He has scoring ability, which we will likely need. I would expect a D-man moves...we seem to have abundance and Postma on the farm. Lots of need for D help around the league.

Jets put him on waivers, probably hoping some one picks up his contract. No one does, so now he's sort of in limo. Never any mention of him practicing with certain line combinations. So what's he doing in practice? Anyone been to a Jets practice this week? If so, where is Stapleton being slotted?

I just think that Chevy is working on putting him somewhere 'cause he's probably not going to St. John's on the one-way. I say he's either traded or he ends up playing in Europe on some type of agreement between the Jets and the European club.

I was surprised that Oduya wasnt traded before the season. Postma is at least as good as him and also cheaper.

I'm going with Oduya due to him being an impending UFA.

Unless Mike Smith gets a GM job we won't be able to trade Oduya.

Anybody remember Mike Amodeo?

That really wouldn't be a good idea unless we want to tank this year, and that doesn't exactly send a good message. He is our 2nd best defenseman right now and one of the leaders on the team. While I don't think he stays here long term, I'm not convinced he'll be moved before his contract ends.

Oduya on the other hand...I've thought he would have been moved by now to be honest, and I still think he'll be moved before the deadline.

Good topic. Unless Oduya has a huge year I can't see the Jets resigning him. Gone at the deadline I think. Sooner if he keeps playing like he did against Montreal. Postma is ready I think.

Based on his performance last year, and the two gaffes he had on Sunday, I say the first trade is Oduya.

Maybe to Edmonton for Omark?!

As much as we need players on D, don't think we would want Oduya....at least not for Omark.

Probably going to be a minor league player. Someone like Festerling or maybe even Maxwell.

Some of the higher value players like Antropov or Hainsey wouldn't be traded until the trade deadline. I can also see Slater being traded if he doesn't sign an extension.

Unless it's some minor league or 4th line scrub, I'd say the first major trade is Oduya for prospect or a pick at the deadline.

I don't see Chevy screwing around much with his franchise for the time being, probably status quo and do the firesale at the trade deadline, don't see the Jets as playoff contenders this season.

Well, he is one of the oldest guy on the team... But the man is 30 years old, and a defenseman, it's not as if he's expected to all of a sudden break his hip and blame todays youth

Screwing around is exactly what he has to do right now to clean up the mess that Atlanta created.

It's been Oduya for me for a while now. I'm hoping he raises his trade value sometime soon. He'll most likely be traded near the deadline. I'd like to see Postma on the bottom pairing with Stuart.

I agree with Oduya at the deadline, but I'm also thinking they might try and "sell high" on a guy like Antropov if he has a great first half. I just don't see him fitting in with a young, fast team in the long term.

When the Leafs dumped him at the deadline in 2009 he got back a 2nd and a conditional 4th. Considering that he still has a year left on his deal, I think he could fetch a 2nd and a mediocre salary in return to keep us above the floor (if necessary).

Other than that I could see a minor "shake-em-up" kind of deal with a guy like Stapleton or MacLean.
