is it posted anywhere why babchuk taking a seat? not sure why you'd bench a 30+ point defenseman..

Appears we have a lot of bandwagon fans here judging from some of the comments on the first page.

Stajan's getting better and better forechecking wise, as is Hagman

Way to go, boys. They didn't do much of anything at all in the last two periods (especially the third) but they didn't lose the game, either. Stajan looked good tonight, and Horak looked good in his limited time with Tangs and Iggy, really nifty.

And congrats to Kipper for the record!

solid win. would like to see the shot total come down a bit but no real scoring chances so not a huge concern. glencross had a hell of a game. really liked the jokinen stempniak glencross line. also liked the look of stajan between bourque and hagman. that's a third line i'd put against any in the league. if bourque can stay consistent i think he'll have a big year playing soft minutes against other teams third lines like he did tonight.

I missed most of the game unfortunately, but great the see the Flames got their first W of the season! Also good to hear that Stajan, Hagman and Moss had good games. We need solid efforts from all those guys if we are going to make the playoffs. And great to see Bourque hit the score sheet again, hopefully he can keep the consistancy going.

Great game for the flames. 60 mins of effort resulted in a lot of chances and pressure. Kipper didn't let any softies in when the chips were down, and the forawards burried 4 goals over the course of the game. Solid way to win a game.

Horak looked good on the first line for those last few shifts. Maybe he can fit until BMO or Backlund is back. I would love to be able to move Moss back to the OMG line instead of centering the first line.

I agree that Horak looked good in his limited time with Iggy and Tanguay, but I am not sure about giving him a spot on the first line until BMO or Backlund come back. Stajan has looked good 5 games in a row now (including the last two pre-season games) and I think he deserves a chance on the top line. Moss did look good tonight, especially on that play that resulted in his goal and the one that followed that he was real close on with Tangs but I still want the OMG line back together.

Missed the game, but it was nice to find out that Calgary got the win.

Very excited to see if they can build off of this game and hopefully string together a nice little win streak to start out the season.

Good game. Not everything was perfect, but a win is a win.

Now on to TO. We better not lose to them.

TBH I'm starting to see what Sutter had in mind by placing Stajan in the bottom six. Seems like he's finally bringing a controlled agressive side out of him. If he can keep that kind of active stick, solid defensive, chip on his shoulder play going then this team is so much better for it. Great game by Stajan. Good to see Hagman in the mix too.

Tangauy is just being himself, the guy is a setup machine.

Iggy had a weaker game, but nothing new there for the start of the year.

Kipper was solid.

Giordano has to be one of the better all around players in the game today. It feels good to have him on this team. You notice him doing things right everytime he's on the ice.

Smith rebounded well after botching his coverage on the first goal.

Still love the Bouwmeester Butler pairing. They really compliment each other with crisp passing and speed. Butler is still a little shakey, but hopefully he keeps improving. He seems to be getting more comfortable every game.

SARICH SMASH!

Oh...great to see a Jokinen blind pass work out in our favour for once. Even better to see Bouwmeester take the body a few times.

Horak is really a shifty and a very responsible defensive player. But I don't think he brings enough to the table to take stajan's place yet (especially given Stajan's recent performances). Great job by the kid but I imagine playing most of the year in ABB would be good for his development. His offensive skills are there, he just hasen't translated that to the NHL level at this time. He's really making the Erixon crap fest seem more palatable.

I couldn't agree more with this post. I have really liked to see what Horak has brought and it would be my wish that we can find a spot for him once BMO and Backlund return, but I think he will go back down. And it may be the best thing for him. If he can go down and polish up his offensive skills playing with Howse again, we may have a really good 2nd line centre here. I am really liking this kid and am forgetting more and more about that punk Erixon every day.

Congrats to Kipper. Clearly the best goaltender in Flames franchise history.
Solid effort by the Flames. It was great to hear the Habs booing their own team.
Only area of concern is the shot totals (yet again). Although many of the Habs shots were from the perimeter, the Flames need to reverse this trend.
