I remember the otherday someone asked Gary Jubiak if he had any interest in Favre, and he said that at this point they're considering everyone.

So speaking of Boone and hockey jerseys, I saw someone wearing a green Wings Yzerman jersey last night so I went over and struck up a conversation with him. Pretty soon into it he said the following:

"Yzerman is the best defenseman the NHL has ever seen."

It was all I could do not to slap him.

BCS not making a secret that its all about the money this year. Just no excuse for some of these matchups, including the title game. OSU got jobbed big time.

BCS title game will not be nearly as watched as they're expecting it to be. Throughout SEC country? sure. But the rest of the country? Probably not, we've seen that song and dance before, it was boring as ****, nobody without any kind of SEC homerism wanted to see it again.

And yeah, WVU this year is just... not all that good. The offense has been good at times (nobody even sniffed the yardage they put up on LSU including Oregon) and they have insane receiver depth, but the OLine sucks and the defense lost 8 starters this year, 5 of which are in the NFL now. Clemson's probably going to blow us out. If we had played VT instead it might be another matter entirely, they're just flat out overrated and frankly mediocre. The only good team they've played all year they've been blown out by.... twice. Best hope WVU has in this one is just to keep pace with Clemson offensively, though they may actually be capable of doing that.

I really don't care that VT's in there. We beat them, again, and that's all that matters. Boyd got the monkey off his back and made some quality plays to keep the game from changing momentum. The offense was able to mix up the play calling and target all of our weapons on the field. The defense was a rock and prevented Wilson from doing anything, and targeted Thomas for when he was forced to make throws he wasn't comfortable with, coming up with a couple of big interceptions.

Some other people around here are absolutely furious that VT's in the Sugar Bowl though. They keep referencing that VT's played 3 games against ranked teams (GT and Clemson) and lost two of them, and that they should therefore have no right to be anywhere near the Sugar Bowl. They are also complaining that they played almost no quality teams outside the top 25 yet still ended up ranked No. 5 to go into the ACC Championship. They whine nonstop, it's almost unbearable.

I might agree with you, but Clemson has a degree of unpredictability around them. We start off on top of the world, then play horribly against GT. Barely beat Wake Forest, then get absolutely wrecked by State. Then conclude the regular season by showing no offensive rhythm against South Carolina. Finally, we go back to playing a highly ranked team, and show them that we're better than they are. It's really makes no sense. I just don't get it.

To be fair... they're right, VT shouldn't be in the Sugar Bowl. But Houston and Boise choked, TCU wasn't ranked high enough (IE: they choked earlier in the year) and Georgia and Arky couldn't go since there were 2 SEC teams in already. So what's left, the Chokies and KState? KState's the better team but doesn't have the same following (on TV) so it makes sense.

And its a joke that the size of a fanbase should have any impact on a BCS matchup. But its not just a FBS problem. For as much as I love the FCS and as much as it benefits my school, the way they determine who hosts a playoff game between two unseeded teams is whoever kicks back the most money to the NCAA. They call it bidding. We usually win the bids but that doesn't change how I feel about the process.

The entire NCAA is beyond shady.

Yay, everyone get ready for an Alabama-LSU rematch!!

I hope the Tigers kick the crap out of the Tide.

This article says what most of the country probably thinks of this rematch, calling it CFB's equilvalent to a Yankees-Red Sox world series http://espn.go.com/college-football/...llege-football

Yep, ideally the BCS matchups this year should be:
LSU - Okie State
Oregon - Wisconsin
Stanford - Alabama
K State - Boise State or Michigan
WVU - Clemson

Would be a fun game, but Bama's D is just too tough for even Luck I think. Personally, even though they lost a couple brutal games (especially in week 1), I think Oregon would be the team with the best chance of beating either team. Plus, I'd just love to watch LaMichael James and Trent Richardson run for 400 yards apiece.

Yeah, just turned on CNN, apparently there's already two confirmed deaths, but they haven't said anything about the shooter yet.

I live in Virginia. It's all over the local news here. They keep having students call in talking about what they have seen or heard.
