A day late, but quite awesome nonetheless:

http://www.appfan.com/2011/10/17/all...o-be-in-boone/

Of course he comes for the first fall I'm not in Boone since 2005. No matter how you vote, it's pretty damn awesome to see the president go to a town as small as Boone where you know pretty much every nook and cranny.

Certainly giving a lot of attention to this state. About a month ago he visited a business about 100 feet from where my wife works.

Hey guys, a while back (maybe a year ago?) we had a thread discussing the various TV providers, and what they offered. I finally am able to get U-Verse, so I'd like to review some of those comments, but I can't find the thread. Any of you remember whenabouts we had that conversation, or can help me find it otherwise?

Preesh.

I'll say this. It's a good thing those Papa John pizza's were half off, because paying full price for what I just ate would have me calling the Raleigh PD. Robbery in progress.

In the last 7 years, I have only ordered pizza for delivery once. I usually make my own pizza (and prefer it on the grill). It was kind of funny because when I did go to order Pizza that one time, I had to ask a neighbor who to order from and they thought I was nuts. (which I may be).

I've never tried Papa John's but am tempted to get 1 for my kids with this 1/2 price deal one of these days.

Papa John's is nothing special. Frankly the quality went downhill over the past decade while the cost went up. For your money you can find better stuff at a lot of the indie/local chain places for the most part. Then again I've had some from a few of those places that have been absolute **** as well, so it's a bit of a risk.

When it comes to pizza delivery, I'm torn between Pizza Hut and Dominoes. Dominoes has amazing crust, but their cheese to sauce ratio is awful. Pizza Hut is usually more expensive than other chains, but their pizza is so good.

The Papa Johns I had tonight was just a floppy-slab of grease and cheese. If the entire meal wasn't so cheap, I'd be really ticked off.

On an unrelated note, have those on Twitter been following Commodore's herpes monkey saga? Dude is crazy.

After all these reviews, I guess I'll stick with my home-made Pizza. It takes a little longer, but it goes pretty quickly cooking it on the Big Green Egg (grill)

don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Papa John's, I just prefer places like Brooklyn Pizzeria in Durham, or J&S in Apex.

Down here at least, Domino's is the way to go. Pizza hut is always "meh" and expensive, but that 50% off makes it oh so good.

Like I said, my problem with Dominoes is their sauce amount. Pizza needs pizza sauce.

With the $10 Large carryout special they continuously run, I don't think Pizza Hut is that much more expensive than Dominos. I like both, but I usually pay the extra couple bucks for the better pizza.

EDIT: Pizza Hut leftovers >>> Dominos leftovers

If we want to talk pizza, the best I've had was at Artichoke and Basil in Chapel Hill.

I usually like Papa Johns, but I'm sure they're swamped the day after a win with these deals so that's probably why the quality is lacking. I don't really order pizza anymore though

I happened to walk in there with my father after the last UNC football game, it actually has a new name, Artisan Pizza. The pizza was very good, but the service was awful, which was probably because they were so crowded after the game.

How should I celebrate my 5,000th post? Some sort of out of moderator character trolling of another board, perhaps?

I don't remember the thread, but I picked up U-Verse over the summer. I'm happy with it in all aspects except NHL coverage -- no Center Ice availability, and they're currently blacking out NHL Network in a contract dispute. Neither of those seem permanent, though.

Otherwise, it's a FAR better service than Time Warner Cable, AINEC.

Some stores are already setting up christmas decorations. Not that I've been living under a rock, but does anyone remember when stores would do this after Thanksgiving? I miss those days.
