The oilers could win the cup and you'd complain about how classless their celebration was. There's no winning with you.

And its also no surprise that another player that also had surgery had to sit out with soreness for the 3/4 games.

It doesn't matter how much you want to play and win when you have a fragile body. If you're injured, you're injured. There's nothing you can do. And Hemky is injury prone. It's just the way it is.

People have to keep in mind though. It's not something you can't overcome.

Havlat was once horribly injury prone. Tuomo Ruutu just played 82 games last year. The list goes on. It's frustrating but I still have hope the guy can overcome it.

I love Hemsky, but the fact that his last name might as well be DiPietro and that he's now on IR with what can officially be classified as an "owie" is worrisome.

I don't think that's fair. Look at the play that ended his season last year:

That one hurt Louie. He's injury prone but Dipietro has hurt himself just going into the butterfly.

You guys over reacted for sure, but he was not physically hit on the play.

This was not a "classic" Hemsky injury play.

It was pretty clear, to a reasonably athletic person, with previous musculoskeletal damage, that he injured it while overextending his arm.

But I could have been wrong.

The causes of the injuries are unimportant. The fact is that, for all his talent, he's averaged 55.8 games/year over the last 5 seasons. 34.5 games/year over the last two. Missed most of training camp this year, and now out injured again after just 2 games. Granted, that's not nearly as bad as DiPietro's average of thirteen games per year, but still. How can any team (especially one as bad as ours) make any kind of plans involving him when he can only be reliably be counted on for half a season of hockey?

Wow he seemed so depressed in the interview from yesterday. The guy's just sick of being injured. Really feel for the guy.

You do realize that he had major surgery over the summer right? Basically, he is saying that his shoulder wasn't fully healed, its sore and weak, and he doesn't want to get hurt long term. The reason he's had such injury issues in the past very well could have been from coming back to early, I think its smart that he's sitting out now.

I knew that they brought him back too early. Give him the two or 3 weeks to make it a hundred percent and lets do this rite.

Then perhaps restoring a little civic pride would be instore, caring enough about the organization so it doesn't become the laughing stock of the NHL. Restore some pride in the jersey and the city. Just be competitive come the end of December, so half the season is hockey that doesn't matter. This current state really chaffs my hide to no end, but if it's comforting to you, you must be in your glory. I choose to expect more, not less. Guess we can't get any less than where we're at now though eh?

I'm sure Quicksilver cares. He wouldn't be on an Edmonton Oilers message board if he wasn't a hardcore fan. These past few years can take their tole on somebody, but he/she is still here posting.

Oh boy are those ever some home cooked #'s.

Before the Handzus hit, and the 40 odd games he played last season he was averaging ~70 games per season, and thats counting his rookie season where he only played 59 games (because he was a rookie and a healthy scratch often)

A lot of good players find themselves out for long periods of time or a number of games seemingly each year. Injury prone is an interesting concept, it needs to be more clearly defined in any argument. If Taylor Hall gets hurt this year and misses 10 games is he injury prone?
