"Buffalo is the worst place to be"
And yet Canes fans at these games we see.
A solution? Aw shucks,
We'll just line up some pucks
And say "Go, Espen, don't let them flee!"
Adam's rookie points
leeching off all-pro wingers
E Staal two point oh?
Jeff Skinner, ginger.
Great at diving and scoring
Roy's better at both.
One team from the North, one team from the South
A franchise marked by luck, and one with none
Do battle at the fine Niagara's mouth
Upon the setting of the autumn sun.
The blust'ring winds, directed by Maurice,
Rough Sabres, blades worn with decades of pain
The Bullies, Rigas, and skate in the crease
Turned warm springs into cold showers of rain.
But there is now a hope for broken swords
A Blacksmith Terries not with saving grace
With purse by which the team's change he affords
He aims to whet the rusted rapiers face
And then the newly sharpened sword, yet warm,
Might penetrate even the strongest storm.
I haven't seen this posted... If it has, it's worth repeating on this home opening night:
Buffalo Sabres (2-0)
Thomas Vanek scored five points in his first two games, wins over the Ducks and Kings (no creampuffs) in Europe yet. So how does it feel to be big-payroll fatcats, Buffalo people? Not bad, eh? Pass the caviar and light up a Havana stogie because the good times for these ice men figure to last with Terry Pegula signing the checks.
