I heard Holos will become one of the best paid players in Sweden, he must be a pretty skilled defenseman..

I also heard the Avs sent him down after 39 NHL games, 40 games and he'd received a $40k bonus. Holos said the demotion was planned to avoid the bonus. That's part of the reason he went home, but hopes to be back in the NHL next year. Shame on the Avs for the Holos treatment

Umm... he played the last game of the season.

You mean that the Avs sent him down and then called him up later in the season, timing it just perfectly so that the last game of the season was his 39th game?

Having had the benefit of watching him play, I find it far easier to believe that Holos has sour grapes because he wasn't good enough.

Shame on Holos for playing like utter sh** after his first 7 or 8 games with us and getting Olver decapitated pretty much with that suicide pass (which Olver is still suffering from apparently).

Avs don't owe him anything. He flat out didn't play good enough to stay. He is way too soft for the NHL. He avoids contact worse than Tyler Arnason.

I feel bad for Holřs because the 2nd time he played he might still have been feeling the effects of an earlier concussion, but fact is that he had his chance - limited as it may have been in his eyes - and the Avalanche decided he was not good enough for the roster. I wish him luck elsewhere but we're deep enough in prospects that he wasn't really going to have many more chances. Good luck to him but really, it's a non-story by now.

Holos had to go - we picked up Lindstrom, who is our token European for this year. There wasn't room for 2.

Someone should get on scouting the euro leagues for our next "hit it and quit it" prospect for 2013.

But, he must find a way to contribute offensively or be more physical.

When Nashville wanted Tollefsen this summer, I think there might be a shot for him during the off-season with some club. Holös is a better D-man than Tollefsen, but less physical.
Nononono Tollefsen is a beast No1 is better then Tollefsen!!!

I can't believe people are bummed about losing Holos. I had large expectations for him after I saw him in the Olympics, but he didn't show much at all last year, and unfortunately for him Defense is our one logjammed position. At best he was the organizations 12th best dman behind everyone on our current roster including Hunwick and he was probably behind Elliott, Barrie, Seimens, Gaunce. There was just no room for him moving forward, he knew this and was smart.

I wouldn't be too shocked to see him in an NHL camp next year, but at best I see him riding the bus in the AHL next season for some team. At some he may develop into a bottom pairing guy in the NHL, but with the depth we have a defense not a big loss.

Holos update

FWIW, he is averaging over 21 minutes of ice time in his first eight games with Vaxjo - second on the team behind Ilkka Heikkinen. Vaxjo, which was promoted from Allsvenskan this season, is 7th in the 12 team league.
