One game doesn't prove anything. In fact, a single game proves nothing, unless it's game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
It's far too soon for anyone to make any kind of decision on which team won the trade. 3-4 years too soon. Schenn isn't even playing in the NHL at the moment, so comparing Richards' effect on the Kings to Simmonds effect on the Flyers is pointless. Especially in game 4 of the season.
Im not saying this is the game to see who won the trade, but you know whoever wins, media, and hockey fans will be talking about the trade and who won the game, and honestly I do not want to listen to it.
And this is a statement game, we have won three in a row, we are a young team facing a supposed stanley cup contended... we have already beaten both the cup champions and the cup finalists lets keep it going against another good team... lets prove we can contend without richards, and beat the team he is on.

Does it really matter what the media and other hockey fans say? It's the fourth game of the season. Although every point matters...it's one game. You can't learn anything from just one game.

I just dont want to listen to it ya know... im sure the players dont want to either. They know this is big even if its the 4th game.

It's the 4th game against another top notch contender who you don't play a lot and who may come out of the West. It's a measuring stick no matter what..early or not. I go by what Simmonds says...it's about the two points and that is all that matters. Winning is all that matters and all the other tit for tat is for media and petty public consumption...

You are right winning is all that matters, but this would be a huge win early and noone can deny that.
I hope there aren't too many idiots down at the Farg tomorrow, and both Gagne and Richie get a resounding standing ovation. I also hope they play strong games and remain healthy. But of course I hope we smoke them.

I heard they will be handing out prop beer bottles to throw on the ice.....
But this is still a statement game. You know whoever wins everyone is going to be saying stuff like oh look who won the trade, all that sort of stuff. Flyers win this it will be a huge boost.
Pretty sure we wont find out for a couple of years.....

But it looks like you may have just started watching the Flyers, so you wouldn't understand this.
Enjoy.

What is with the Internet and the proliferation of Straw Man arguments? OrangeCrush DID NOT SAY (or imply) that this game would determine who wins the Richards trade or how this season develops. He said that a Flyers loss could give critics of the trade and detractors of the organization another round of ammo (no matter how dubious it may be), and he would prefer that not to happen. Simple.
im sure the drunk fools in the upper bowl will boo.
anyone who has been paying attention the previous half dozen years know what he gave this organization. The guy spilled blood and sweat and guts for this organization. If I was there I would stand and applaud when they introduced him. Maybe if we had a goalie a couple years ago he would have been a Captian of a Cup team.

Exactly. I hope he gets a warm reception. He's done nothing to deserve otherwise.

I hazard that the vast majority of Flyers fans who paid good money to sit in the upper deck will cheer.
kings and flyers are both viable options to win the cup this year.. with that being said, it could be decided in as little as one season.
Funny how fast things change these days
... a few weeks ago everybody was like "we are not going anywhere this season...may not even make the playoffs..."

Wait until we los the first game, it's going to be hilarious because this forum actually defines bi-polar.
