A couple of so called Canuck fans over on the Oiler boarde getting their lips all chapped on Oiler bum.

Really hope we take out some frustrations on the scoreboard tonight.

this will be a statement game i think
either they wake up and start establishing the contender form, or the lose and it's going to be a bumpy ride for a while. not that its a must win or anything -- way too early for that -- but I would like to see a convincing win just to get something going. The last decent game they played was the past time these teams met in the preseason. I enjoy watching these young oilers ...look forward to this one

Who is going to play on the right side on the Ballard/Edler pairing?

Looking forward to this game. I expect the oilers goons will be running around all night protecting their babies and changing their diapers.

I expect a big game from the guys tonight. Did they lose 3 in regulation in a row at all last year?

Cliche time...

Points in October count the same as points in April.

On a realistic note... this is October and these are the Canucks.

The Canucks tend to play more complex offensive and defensive systems (as new players arriving here have noted in the past) and it may take a little time to begin hitting on all cylinders but ultimately it is those more complex systems that make the team a top contender.

Edler's on the right, Ballard's on the left.

I think it's also a bit different when you plan in the NW division in 2011. Not to underestimate the other 4 teams, but the Canucks should have no problem winning the division. Of course, we would probably come in 1st rather than 3rd.

I expect a big game from this team. I'll say 6-1 Canucks.

Sounds like the Canucks are hoping to recreate that Edler - Ehrhoff pairing from last year but now with Ballard. Might work out fine actually...

Wow. AV would give Luongo the start here to pad his stats against Edmonton and throw Schneider out against Detroit. What a dick. sooo unfair.

Hemsky has re-injured his surgically repared right shoulder in the last game and is out for tonight's game. Linus Omark draws in his place.
Ales Hemsky, after making an early exit in only his second regularseason game, was to have an MRI to determine what's happening with his surgically repaired right shoulder. The Edmonton Oilers winger left in the first period of Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild.

Head coach Tom Renney said on Friday he still wasn't even sure what it was that sent Hemsky off but that it doesn't appear to have been a hit.

"I think it was more of a sweeping motion with the puck, possibly as he was making a pass or making a play. I'm just not completely sure," Renney said. "(But) talking to him after the game, it had settled down, and in talking to him this morning, he said he had a good night."

Hemsky has had both shoulders surgically repaired over the last two years.

As much as I dislike the Oilers - I feel for Hemsky. The guy is a great talent when healthy. It's too bad he's always plagued by injuries.

Ya agreed, I dunno if Edler could look worse then he did last game, so I don't see a problem with trying him out on the right tonight. Bieksa has to get his head out of his butt and stop being a bone-head.

Article on Burnaby boy Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. He was not a big fan of the Canucks when growing up. Probably not much of fan currently.
"I liked them a little bit when it was Naslund, Bertuzzi and Morrison playing together and stuff, but for the most part I never really was a big fan," Nugent-Hopkins said after the Edmonton Oilers practised Friday at Rexall Place.

"I didn't really have one favourite team. I liked Ottawa quite a bit and when I was younger I liked Anaheim, San Jose and those kind of teams. I was more of a player kind of guy."

how long are we going to see Volpatti and Weise be completely ineffective out there. They both don't hit, and havn't dropped the gloves since the season started. They haven't stood up for any one of their team mates yet and haven't created any problems for the opposition.

How many games do these guys get until they either figure out what their role is or call up Duco/Oreskovich

And then make some stupid abbreviation for it? RMP?

If you sound out the letters, RMP 93 rhymes.

No but a busy kid playing the circuit of WHL and school away form his home province probably doesn't have time to be a fan of any one team. And obviously he would never come out and say he's a huge Canucks fan when he's the Oiler's version of Jesus.

I've seen the Canucks play like crap against worse defence. All it takes is a good coach to tell his team to play simple hockey and play tight man to man and not get caught running around. Add in a few key saves from goalies with no weight on their shoulders and an opening goal from Eberle or Hall and it's an uphill battle for Vancouver.

I'm being more tentative and say 2-2 to a shootout where we once again... lose.
