If Ottawa is going to strip down, I'd love Milan Michalek. I don't know if he's available, but I'd love him on a line with Nielsen and Grabner. I believe we have the wherewithal to acquire him.

He's looked really good so far, I doubt Ottawa's looking to deal him. What do you think the asking price would be? I would love to have him.

I'd also LOVE to have Robidas. Would make a great right-hand shot to pair with Streit.

Doubt they move him. He's only 26 and locked up for the next couple of years at a reasonable amount. Plus, the only thing they have to show for that Heatley deal.

I wanted robidas too, but Dallas looked to be competitive early on and they won't be sellers.

We need dman, I think we will shuffle up the forwards and hit paydirt.

Keep the first line the same

Grabner/Nielsen/Comeau
Nino/Bailey/Okposo
Pandolfo/Reasoner/Martin

Comeau will be out of the doghouse and ignite that line, Okposo with his recovering shoulder is just a 3rd line caliber guy right now. Nino needs to be on the 3rd line. I would rather trade Bailey to get the 4th dman and move Reasoner to the 3rd line and promote Ullstrom.

I agree that chances are small, and probably even nonexistent, but if the Senators are going to go on a purge as the season slips away from them (neither is a guarantee), maybe we have the prospects to put together a package that they may find attractive. But again, I won't hold my breath. It's incredibly unlikely.

I remember when we were one of the few teams that actually had the cap space to pay both of them. Of course, I don't think we even called.

Supposedly the flames are looking for a deal. Bourque is a legitimate top six forward. Moss may also be better than some of what we have.

He would kick half this team in the ass for not hustling, that's for sure.

Yes he would, and he would make us tougher and be a sick combo to have with JT

I would specifically concentrate on the backend. I think we have enough offensive talent that scoring goals won't be a problem. It just so happens that pretty much everyone other than the first line is in a bit of a funk right now.

This.I fully expect a top six in scoring team this year. The important thing is being top ten in GAA this year, and that means better defense team-wide.

As good as our first line has been this year, and as bad as our other lines have been; we really need to find that top flight winger for Tavares. If he had a winger like Parise/Perry/Iginla or similar star player JT would probably have at least 5 more points by now.

Our offense is above average, but add one of those star players, and we have an elite offense with a top 5 first line in the NHL, plus putting Moulson/PAP down a line or 2 and they are playing where they should be playing.

Agreed, the defense needs to be upgraded, but Tavares needs some help. He is a gamer night in and night out and has no help, we need Iginla because he won't take off a shift ever!

The Islanders are in a slump right now. In my opinion we are very fortunate to be 3-3. Without John Tavares I believe we would be 0-6 and thats not an exaggeration. The Islanders need a lot of stuff right now.

Most importantly they need another dman with offensive prowess. This coming off season Dennis Wideman is a UFA and would be a perfect fit for what this team needs. Second they need a strong punishing dman (no Jurcina). This means unquestionably that Eaton and Mottau have to go.

Second they need a 1st line talent winger. Everyone loves Moulson and Parenteau is putting up the points however 2/3 of our top line would never have sniffed the NHL had the Islanders not been such a wreck the last few years. He is a different player than Parrish was for us but to me they fill a similar role. I believe you would get similar output from Moulson on any of the top 3 lines as he is sniffing around the net looking for garbage.

Third they need a legit NHL power forward (Nino? Perhaps eventually?). I like Okposo as much as the next guy but lets be honest he is not a top line talent. Could be the best 3rd line right wing in the league playing sound in his own end and putting up 20/20 seasons but we need a top 6 power forward to make space and distract the goalie.

I realize that is a lot of major pieces but if they can find a way to acquire them over time I think the Isles could be scary. Right now though we are crazy to think they have a shot at the playoffs.

The Islanders have zero transition game. They need a defenseman that can move the puck.
