I get a feeling it won't be a locked spot, he will probably get some time on the 2nd line in Sobotka's place.

Grachev looked fine with Backes and Langenbrunner in pre-season, and he produced well. The Oshie/Berglund/Stewart line has looked good, so I wish they'd be kept together. Sobotka was adequate as a replacement last season when we had more injuries, but I don't think we're at a point where we need him on the second line. I guess we'll see how these combinations work tonight but I'm not really a fan of them on paper.

I think people are maybe putting too much emphasis on the starting line-up sheet. I'd be surprised if we don't see some shifts with Grachev on the line with Backes.

Sobotka has played really well and has certainly earned the right for more minutes and some scoring line play, as well as showing the capability to step up when called on to do so last year.

I see Payne rolling with a few different combos and settling down with whatever is working. Also, Grachev doesn't have much pressure on him other than hustle, keep his feet moving and hopefully pick up some PP duty. If he can play well on the 4th line he can steal a place in the regular line-up from which to work his way up.

Fully-assed GDT. This doesn't look good.

I'm beginning to wonder about Payne as a coach. I really don't agree with his team management and line ups thus far.

Our special teams are awful. I supported him last season through the offseason. I just think he's had poor team management thus far.

Special teams typically fall to the assistant coaches, right? We have the same assistant coaches that were here under Murray.

Follow the bread crumbs. Let's get rid of that common link before we axe a young, up-and-coming head coach.

I can fully support that Mellenby was with payne so I support retaining him.

So I noticed this last game, and it seems to be doing it even more frequently this game. Does anyone else notice the audio cutting out on Fox Sports Midwest? I know it's not my TV, because no other channel does it. I figured it was just bad connection in Dallas, but it's doing it again!

I don't really see what the penalty was there. He got him sidearm, he didn't go into the boards... not sure why there was an original call.

D'Ags! Steals a pass, goes alone in on goal and flips it by the goalie! EXCELLENT!

This is the energy level that they need to play with. If they can do this for 60 minutes consistently, they can play with anyone in the league.

Great pressure, very good transitions, smart decisions with the puck.

Grachev is busting his butt out there, and looking good doing it. He doesn't look out of place in the bottom 6 at all so far...and I dare say he wouldn't look out of place in the top 6 either.

The good: Seeing Thronton go to try to hit Berglund then end up on his butt.

The bad: Our PP
