When is it appropriate to not give OV the benefit of the doubt

Well if you dont want to/cant handle it there is not much I can do. We can't all favor the various sensitivities of all the posters while posting.

Look at it this way. More negative the posts (generally) -> the more worrying about the team performing -> the more people care about the team winning.

Read a NYR thread. It would sound like they hate their team more than anything. I do not think that's true.

Although it was another weak win, it was at least in regulation today, which is a good thing

So the Caps get outworked by an inferior team at home but Ovechkin and Vokoun look like their resumes.

Hmph.

2 pts.

If OV gives that kind of effort for even 60 games this year he'll be back to his old self. It just shows what he's got when he skates.

Agreed. This will work against the young teams not expected to go anywhere but this will not work on the better teams in the league.

side note: wtf happened to the ning? They seem like they forgot the season started.

Said it at the beginning of this GDT, don't play to the level of the competition. Tonight they continued with that tendency.

2 points.

Improvements from last year: Backstrom, D depth (I like Green and Wideman running the game from the D), more muscles of MJ, checking line.

I kinda see more precise passing in the D and neutral zones.

OV: will come to shape till playoffs. Already much faster but no effectiveness at all yet.

Vokoun is interesting goalie. No rebounds is unusual to see.

I just worry that it's hard to preach that accountabiltiy and smart hockey when they're 4-0-0... Whether this team can be self critical when winning.... That's a very open question.

Ovi's effort and physicality is there. His execution and decisions have been horrid. It took the worst dman in game to be on his side of ice and unbalanced to allow special skill to show.

Vokoun really responded after that mistake. Good to see.

Ovechkin and Brouwer are clearly not on the same page yet. Looking forward to when they get in synch.

I still am not sure why this team can't keep pressure on a team consistently. Hopefully once everyone gels the offense will look fluid. Can't complain too much at 4-0.

Oh, and as a big-time Schultz hater, he's been very good so far this season.

Greg Millen on the CBC feed was commenting how after AO reeled in his physical game, he just hasn't been the same player.

Went form his best season to his worst. Need "dirty" "reckless" ovie back.

He did get pretty physical towards the end of this game.

So about Vokoun. I'm really impressed with how calm and cool he stays. I also loved how on that Michalek breakaway he followed him across on the deke and even moved towards him to take away more of the net.

I rather put the other team away too. I kind of figured after the Colorado beat down, the Sens would play a decent game. As for the Caps, I'm going to give this team another month before I start picking apart players etc. It is obvious though, we still need that stud shutdown defenseman. I am still giving Ovy some slack due to the traveling and emotions of losing a loved one. I figure he will catch fire soon. Defensively, I have given up that Ovy will ever do those kind of things ever. I am very happy Chimera came back to play. I was worried after seeing him hit the boards like that and rushing off. I love the 4-0 start.

It is just a matter of time before he heats up. I agree, I think he is playing pretty physical and he ran over Cowen later in the game. He seems to be trying some new tricks. What I think is funny is watching guys like Backstrom and even Semin stand up. Semin throwing his shoulder in the third period was hillarious. I like how Semin was unselfish and opted to pass on the Backstrom PP goal too. If that had been last year, he would have taken the shot on net.
