O'Reilly doesn't play PK except when it's a 3-on-5. I don't mind, I'd rather he get a proper chance to show his offensive game. If the PK slumps, I expect Sacco to be forced to use him on the PK.

Well you're definitely right, he can play that way and I think he'll get it figured out, it's just hard to watch him try to dangle through everyone, just to lose the puck.

That's what I posted earlier in the game, one of McClement's strengths was supposed to be faceoffs but he has been awful since he got to Colorado. Only 40.8% this season.

O'Reilly is the best on the team at 57%

Duchene is suffering from Ovi syndrome right now.... trying to do it all by himself...and he is not near Ovi on the pure talent/physicality scale.

Now, if Duchene could just give Stastny about 20% of his "carry the team" effort, both players would be all the better for it.

Not that everyone is 1) in the States, 2) has a cable or dish box, or 3) does not have a crappy provider, but for those who have not figured it out yet and meet the above, Center Ice is free until the 23rd, so if you had not figured that out, you have been missing out, lol. Think the Hawks game is the last free one the Avs will be on. The Toronto game is on Versus.

This was a great game... It seams we have two groups of players... Group A shows up one night and Group B shows up the next night.

We really do have 4 lines of competitive forwards and 4-5 great defenders on this team... I love our depth.

Alright. Bring on the leafs, they can't be all they've stacked up to be. Look at the competition they've faced.

Can someone please tell me what happened on our last goal?

My mom taped the game for me but forgot to add the extra 30 minutes on at the end of the game so I missed the last part.

That's the type of team they'll struggle with. Small and quick. Johnson and Quincey were great, Wilson was solid, but the rest of the defense struggled.

Varly had his issues but he kept them in there in the first.

We probably didn't deserve to win that one. We're going to have to tighten up our play in our own zone if we want to continue winning games against playoff caliber teams.

But I'll take it

The 5-5 tying goal?

Powerplay pass from behind the net out to the right side to Quincey off the far post and in.

These games are valuable. Getting a nice bank of W's in the beginning of the season comes in handy.

Certainly I understand the sense of optimism that we all have for the club, but if we look at it we certainly stole 2 games (other one in Columbus), so we shouldn`t be having an on top of the world type feeling. On the other hand it is nice battling back to tie the game and winning them in shootouts. But there are some things that still need to be addressed, and we need some sort of consistency out of the team overall. Only the 3rd line has pretty much done that.

We didn't deserve to win this game. But man we were lucky.

Winnik and O'Brien were TERRIBLE, wow when ever they were on the ice it was brutal to watch.

Johnson put on BEAST performance today, HOLY CRAP he was amazing.

Also as an Habs fan, Price was terrible.

Better description:

Johnson miraculously saves puck from exiting O zone, goes down righr side a bit, passes to Hejduk

Hejduk goes around net with some puck handling...it's important because no one on our team can do that

On the other side of the net, passes to Quincey. Shoots immediately. Post. In.

I just want to chime in and agree that EJ was amazing tonight. I thought it was not only his best game this season, but perhaps as a member of the Avalanche.

On a night in which the Avs' defensemen struggled mightily with the quickness and speed of Montreal, he was simply dominant in the defensive zone.

He was a -1 one, which goes to show how overrated +/- ratings can be at times.

And Porter was so invisible today that even Stastny was noticeable.

Agreed. There's reason for us to be optimistic, but also at the same time a lot of problems this team will need to workout before I feel safe about a playoff berth. They need to really work on defensive transition, it seems that when the team turns it over the forwards and defense just try to scramble back into the zone as quickly as possible instead of switching into a proper defensive scheme. That's been a problem I've noticed every game of this season. Duchene needs to work out his issues, and we need all the lines to support each other game in and game out.
