Weber has been really solid for a while now, he needs to be in the lineup.
Emelin looks great to me.

I really like Diaz's game, but if I had it my way 2 of Diaz, Gill and Spacek would be the odd men out, but that will never happen.

It will only get worse I'm afraid.

You fall to 1-5-1 and it is near impossible to make that ground up over the season. The league is too close now.
For now, Habs are -1, so calm down. 1-5-1 is -4. You're talking of losing the next 3 games, and then calling the season quit. I mean, really, its impossible to win against any of Toronto, Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

Coming back from a -4 this early in the season is not impossible, it's actually something that often happens. It also often happens that teams like the Islanders, Avalanches go on a roll early in the season and then lose a lot of steam, like will most likely happen to the Isles, Leafs and Avs this year.

Tonight, it was 4-3 when you said the Habs wouldn't even be able to score one more goal. Yet they scored 2. One to tie, one to take the lead. Hockey can change pretty quickly, whether in game or in the standings.

Start panicking at the end of November if we're anywhere close to -4.

Agreed. That's why I want PK with him.
PK made Gill look great last year. Right now he's stuggling, so how does Gill look? Like the crappiest of crap. After every game I'm scratching my head as to why management chose him over Hammer. Biggest mistake of the off-season.

Gorges and Weber have been our best Dmen.

I'm liking Emelin too. Hope it gets easier and easier for him.

there are a lot of positives to be taken out of that game, i thought we battled back quite well, overcoming 2 defecits was nice. however we play very inconsistently throughout the game, very spuratic on offence and lots of defensive lapses, with the occasional solid play diverting the play... Special teams plays a big factor, but what I've noticed in the first couple of games, when we get chances and are playing hot and don't score, we fall off and let one or two in. games are very much peaks and valleys, and I'm sure its related to the fact we have key injuries and its early in the year, but we still have a solid veteran presence it would be nice to even our play out a little

You're hilarious. Keep posting. I love how you use the standing this year for us, but last years for our opponents. News flash, pal... Toronto and the Avalanche aren't that bad... Keep being ridiculous though. It's fun.

I think the D should be:

Gorges-PK: Gorges is playing very well and pairing him with subban should help since
hell be able to keep up with PK, something Gill can't do, thus allowing PK to make easier decisions with the puck, stopping him from forcing the play himself too much.

Emelin-Weber: Weber deserves 2nd line minutes and can be trusted a bit more since hes played so well recently. His mobility and Emelin's size and good transitional play (for the most part) should balance one another well.

Gill-Diaz: Gill needs to be on the third pairing, its where he belongs, lighter assignments means hell be fresher and if hes facing bottom 6 opposition it should help his play. Diaz has played alright (I saw him try and throw a couple hits) and he can take more chances since Gill would stay back. Once again a good mix of size and skill.

Am I on to something or am I way off?

Want to make a bet? If the Habs are in the playoff race in March, you leave for the entire next season. If they aren't, I'll do the same. Put your money where your mouth is.

Emelin was by far the best d-man on the ice tonight.

Yeah he should ditch the pads he's using in support of breast cancer which are identical to his normal pads because he lost one game.

One of the best IMHO, screwed up in the first. But more than Weber or Diaz, I like Emelin's potential for the team. I saw after he took a big hit today he came back with more physical play himself, hope he continues to get more physical, I want him to be our mean s.o.b. who can play hockey

It looks as if Martin is trying to force a chemistry between Cole and Plekanec. As of now, it doesn't seem to go too well. It's only 4 games in so there's obviously still time for them to gel but... if not I wouldn't mind seeing something along the lines of ;

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Gionta (proven line from last season)
Cole-Eller-AK (Big strong forwards who can forecheck hard)
DD-Gomez-Darche/Moen

No way JM will play Plecs on the point.

I dunno if I'm glad or pissed that Plec's goal means he may now play more on the point on PP, but actually this time he shifted and closed into high slot position to shoot, if that's the threat then it could work out because I think we had been overly perimeter on the PP.

I think Cole should play with Gomez and Gionta. Put the three older vets together, let them work at it.
