Well kinda but not really. I will miss their wings though. Food was mediocre and the girls were ok.

It's funny, I love women, I love wings, yet I've never been to a Hooters, lol.

It's probably for the best then. Although I can't comment on the wings...

I've been to that one a lot in Farmingdale, since I'm from Plainview. That's such a shame

Chicken parts and women parts with hot sauce and blue cheese.

Sorry, the idea of Hooters always seemed gross. But I washed dishes at places that served wings through college, so I can barely smell wings without wanting to hurl.

Cheers,

Dan-o

Kind of a misguided business model

The Hooter girls were just enough to put women patrons off and keep families out......

But not enough to bring in guys who were looking for such "entertainment"

A place with a large offering of craft beers would be more to my liking anyway.

dumb concept that's on the decline. i'd be surprised if they were still around in 20-25 years. (were there any in Back to the Future part II?)

Bad food. Bad service. Large, fake plastic (not just the cutlery

I find that Hooters seems to be much more popular in the US than Canada. Canadians tend to look down on Hooters and many women wouldn't even set foot in one.

Not sure why it went downhill. I used to go there weekly with friends back 8,9,10 years ago and it was always packed.

Also, there were a ton of families if you can believe it. But the last time I went (about 2-3 months ago) the place was dead. I kinda figured it was only a matter of time.

On a personal note, I am a bit sad that this happened. Although in recent years I maybe only went there once or twice a year (even less now since my move to RVC), but I did have a lot of good memories at that place back in the day.

I agree with bad service. Food would take forever to come out.

But bad food? It's bar food. You either like it or you don't. I'm not afraid to admit I like bar food (how I am not a fat mess is a minor miracle) and as far as bar food goes I thought it was just fine. I've had much... much worse.

Didn't a bunch of Canz open up recently on LI? Maybe Hooters got beat at their own game? I'm sure it's the same **** though.

No big deal, only been there once, a couple years back with some friends after an Isles game. Food was ok, service was ok, my friends' behavior made the dining experience uncomfortable, but the watiresses seemed to be used to it.

I like bar food too, but I find Hooters is among the worst of the low "bar" set by "bar food". Something about setting the bar very low needs little explanation for Isles fans, sadly.

I remember that as well. I recall a Hooters in Chicago about 10-12 years ago, just packed, lots of people AND families. It was a magical, happy place.

They came to Canada shortly after that and for a few years it was also a hot-spot, but they are completely dead now. I suppose they never really re-invested in their brand or evolved their food/service as more and more competitors entered the market.

Sports bars seem to get better and better (improved food, more TVs, always had hot waitresses) and Hooters kinda got left behind...a bit like Corey Trivino

Probably for the best its time has past. Sounds like they are replacing with a better option. Also Hurricane Wings is better as well.

The older kids and wife used to ask to go occasionally because they liked the wings until we found better options...

However, I will say I wish I had video from when my youngest was 6 and was teaching the hooters girls down in florida the cheer she was doing for her squad... she had 4 of them doing the routine with her. It was very funny and got the attention of the whole place.

Well maybe it depends on what you ate. I would always get those buffalo chicken strips and the fries with the cheese dip. Ok now I'm hungry.

I will say the burgers weren't the best. Not terrible but certainly not in my top 10.

I went there once and after hearing all about the wings, I was extremely disappointed in how incredibly ****** they were. A disgrace for fans of true buffalo wings like myself. Also, the women were nothing special and some of them weren't very attractive at all.

I've gone to the one in Farmingdale a lot. That's too bad. Food was awful though.

Send a message via ICQ to beach
Apparently, the new Hooters is the Tilted Kilt. We have one in Raleigh - and two Hooters as well!

The one on Smith Street! Oh no!

I used to work down that block 2 years ago and worked late. I also worked from April to August this year 2 miles north of that one in Farmingdale (again). My job in Islandia is not to far from the other one.

....Oh well.

There's always Raisins

The bar across the street from the Coliseum has pretty good wings from what I remember. I never liked hooters wings. Wings aren't supposed to be breaded.

Hooters fills a market need. I remember in hotel/restaurant classes, the women wanted to have a franchise of their own - and I loved the idea (never happened).

Wasn't an OWL, though...it was a woodpecker. Infer for yourself what the concept name was.

Hooters is stuck in 1988.

Which is why I'm surprised it didn't flourish on Long Island!

Holy cripe....I misread your post! (I never went to a Hooters....It's cheaper to make 'em great at home then go to the nudie bar) I read "supposed to be breaded" thanks to the damned Romney/Obama stand up routines.

My bad!

(anyone who remembers the best wings ever made at the Colonial Inn in Mineola - the one that burnt down in the '80's?)

PM me and I'll give you a recipe.
