TAMPA BAY –The Tampa Bay Lightning signed left wing Ondrej Palat to a three-year, entry-level contract today, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Palat, 6-foot, 174-pounds, attended his first Lightning training camp this season. He was assigned to the Norfolk Admirals on September 25. Palat did not appear in any preseason games.

A native of Frydek-Mistek, Czech Republic, Palat played in 61 games with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season. He registered 39 goals and 96 points, ranking him tied for fourth in the league in scoring. Palat led the Voltigeurs in goals, power play goals (15) and was tied for the team lead in points.

He was drafted by the Lightning in the seventh round, 208th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Ron Francis, Director of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Victor Rask on a three-year, entry-level contract. At the NHL level, the deal will pay Rask $550,000 in the first year, $650,000 in the second year and $750,000 in the third year, or he will make $70,000 per year at the minor-league level. He also receives a signing bonus of $277,500.

Cap hit for the contract rounds out to 742,500

With Zidlicky sustaining what's probably a concussion, the Wild sign Fredheim who had been playing in Houston on an AHL contract. It's technically an ELC, but since he's 24, it's a 1 year deal. This brings the Wild blue line to 1 vet, 2 sophomores, and 3 rookies.

As a side note, Wild forward Matt Cullen alone has more NHL games under his belt than the entire Wild blue line (976 GP vs 902 GP).

Cuma has played 128 games since June 2008. He's been constantly injured. Now that he looks like he's healthy for once, the team just wants him to get some consistency and opportunity. I don't think the signing is doubt about Cuma's worth, they're just trying to get him as much ice time as possible.

He stands an intimidating 6'8" and 260 lbs and has 2 points and 57 PIM in 18 games with Rochester of the AHL this year after being a training camp invite in Sabres camp.

To follow up on the this signing, Finley has been recalled and will take Jordan Leopold's place in the lineup due to an injury to the latter.
