I'm really unclear, to be honest. In the press release for Boston signing Krug, it states that he's not available for the playoffs, which is a surprise to me.
Would it depend on whether or not the player is playing the first year of his ELC or a tryout of some sort?
Question for the cap gurus - is Reilly Smith eligible for the NHL playoffs should the Stars get there? He was obviously signed after the trade deadline but was in their control as a draft pick. He is not on the AHL clear day roster, for what it's worth.
Edit: I was wrong.

A player signed after the trade deadline is allowed to play in the playoffs if his right already belonged to the team in question (draft picks made by that team; i.e. Riley Smith). Players who are signed as UFA (like Krug or Dekeyser if he signs this year) are not allowed to play in the playoffs.

No problem. If i'm not mistaken, this rule was put in place by the league a couple of years ago when Mats Sundin and Peter Forsberg were waiting to figure out where to sign... Ultimately, wheter a player is an UFA because he's an NCAA or CHL player who wasn't drafted or an European UFA player playing in another league, it's all the same... it's to avoid teams adding talent from outside the organisation just in time for the playoffs
Congratulations to client @drew_shore15 for agreeing to terms with the Florida #Panthers. One of the best ever to wear the #DU jersey.
I just want to reiterate to all posters on the Trade Board, I really, really appreciate any and all help with regards to breaking the Prospect signings, but if you could please provide a link or where you heard it, so we don't get a lot of instances where so-and-so heard he signed from his friend, only for it to turn out not to be true. I know, myself, I've gotten lax with this lately, so I'm going to make sure to re-dedicate myself to including links as often as possible.

Yep. Matt Carle joined the Sharks after his season was up in 2006 and played in the playoffs that year.

Signed with Winnipeg Jets today. Thanks for all the support and tweets. Heading to Norfolk, VA to meet St. John's Ice Caps tmrw #excited
Kind of surprised Dekeyser isnt going pro. The money is there. Sometimes you have to give these guys some credit for still wanting to enjoy the college experience.
Nice. From his blog, Russo says that Zucker signed an ELC and is likely to make his Wild debut on Thursday. Looks like he'll get a good 7 game audition for next year.
