Habs were 3rd in the league with 47 man games lost due to injury (behind Pittsburgh and Columbus) but 2nd in CHIP (Cap Hit of Injured Players). That second number might be skewed a bit, as Gomez certainly isn't worth 7.3M in losses when Crosby is worth 8.7, but generally speaking we're near the top of the heap when it comes to injuries so far this season.

Even more glaring is our D CHIP, which was more than twice the amount of any other team for the month of October.
Yeah pretty much reflects what many here have said. Thanks for digging this up.

Btw about Spacek Martin said for sure he won't be back Wednesday so whatever he has it doesn't look good.

So, with all these injuries, who's gonna be called up from Hamilton ?

Blunden and St-Denis ?

Logically Stafford if Gill can't go. Possibly Blunden if Cammy can't. If both can go probably nobody.

Does Stafford has to go thru waivers. The guy is about 30.
Who's the best d-man in Hamilton according to those who are following them ?

Stafford does not have to go on recall waivers.

St-Denis has been the best D imo, Henry would be next best.

If Engqvist is injured, is there any chance that Habs will call up Leblanc ?

It's a possibility, though coming off surgery I would prefer to see him get at least a half year AHL before seeing NHL action.

We need a betting pool on the date (if ever) that every Montreal Canadien is in the lineup.

What the hell... January 7 against Tampa.

I don't see how a lot of people are, look at the passive-resistive system we play (that requires taking a lot of punishment through blocking shots and receiving hits, and tedious backchecking) coupled with the fact we do have a lot of smaller players, along with the fact we have a lot of REALLY old players (Gill,Spacek).

It`s really not the least bit surprising.

Tellement...

I ain't an expert in stats but after a year with almost no injuries we had to expect a lot of them. But it's just too much

A lot of really old players?

We have 2 guys 35 and above. That's not a lot not REALLY old, REALLY old is Chellios playing at like 47.

I exagerated.

I'd consider 35+ to be pretty old, especially given that in this case neither of the players are known for insane levels of conditioning (not saying they are slouches, just saying they aren't Chris Chelios or Mark Messier, either).

Spacek is historicly injury prone.

Year after year the Habs seem to always have such huge injury woes...

Lets get to the bottom of this. Every year, Habs are always treading with their roster cuz so many key guys are always out.

So my question is....why does this happen every year?

Style of play?
softness?
size?
conditioning?
hockey smarts?
nutrition?
lack of pain threshold?
taxes?

I honestly have no clue why this team can't stay reasonably healthy.

just saw Andrei Markov skating rather vigourously during practice on RDS (though still wearing the green no contact jersey)...was great to see in action..
