Around the League VII

For all your "OMG what did they do?!?" needs.

Looks like the league is looking to make a drastic overhaul of the divisions rather than just minor changes after the Winnepeg re-acquisition. Sounds like both Columbus and Detroit are heading east:

Didn't someone propose 14 team-western conference and 16 team-eastern conference? I want Colorado in our division please

That would be awesome.

Also, sounds like Bieksa signed with the Nucks. 5 years @ $4.6M

and Philli just dealt Powe to Minnesota....Do they have ANY centers left outside of Giroux? Briere played RW last year but can fit in to his old position. They must be targeting Richards AND Stamkos

Based strcitly on what the article said and using geography, it would look something like this I am guessing:

Eastern Conference
East

Boston
Buffalo
Montreal
New Jersey
NY Islanders
NY Rangers
Ottawa
Toronto

South
Carolina
Columbus
Detroit
Florida
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Tampa
Washington

Western Conference
Pacific

Anaheim
Calgary
Edmonton
Los Angeles
Phoenix
San Jose
Vancouver

Midwest
Chicago
Colorado
Dallas
Minnesota
Nashville
St. Louis
Winnepeg

great so the Pacific gains another powerhouse team and a team that will be a powerhouse in a couple of year. At least it will change from East vs West threads to lolMidWest

Hopefully Phoenix will drop off without Bryzgalov in net. 5 playoff teams in the Pacific with only 4 spots available.

Midwest would get 2 playoff teams from last season.

Are you counting Edmonton or Calgary as that 5th playoff team? lol Calgary isn't going anywhere with Iginla and Kipper getting older and very little in terms of prospect depth.

5 of those teams made the playoffs last season. If it was a divisional setup last season, the Kings wouldn't have made the playoffs.

Right now Phoenix looks to be down because Bryz left, but what if they sign Vokoun and Brad Richards?

Nobody's roster is set right now, but it looks like a 2 team race between the Kings and SJ for the Pacific next season.

Imo Colo and Calgary should be swapped. Colorado is more southwest than Calgary is pacific.

If you look the conferences the West has 14 teams and the East has 16 which doesn't match the article saying 15 in each. I think this was thrown out there so Bettman could say he is working on getting Detroit in the East, but the league can't agree on how. See Wings fans Gary is your friend so stop booing him.
Until the Coyotes have a home it will be hard to say what the divisions will look like

Seriously... You can fly out of the country faster than you can drive across Los Angeles.

No, they start off in El Segundo.. They don't need to take the 5 to the 91 to the 57.

40 mins .. As Bob Mckenzie would say... I stick to my story.
