Carter - Hairline Fracture (Foot)

Per various sources, Carter is questionable with hairline foot fracture.

Well, that sucks.

From what I've read, it's not thought to be anything to keep him out long term, but he's been one of the few bright spots.

Carter - Hairline Fracture (Foot)

@Aportzline Aaron Portzline
#CBJ C Jeff Carter has hairline fracture atop his right foot, suffered Saturday. Could keep him out Tuesday, but not long-term, #CBJ says.

I looked around and didn't see anyone posting about this. Maybe it's hidden in your GDTs or something. Just thought it might deserve it's own thread.

Take care all.

Yeah, not good news at all. Carter and Prospal have been the 2 best players.

Was it on a blocked shot? I don't think he wears protectors on his skates but he should, this is the 3rd time now that he's had broken bones in his foot.

Certainly can't blame you for not wanting to delve into those depths

The thing that makes me nervous? Remember Forsberg's recurring foot problems?

Yeah, which is why, I don't care how desperately we need him now, they better not play around. Give this thing the time it needs to fully heal. I don't care if he "can" play. I care if he should play given his importance to the team long term.

Forsberg's foot problems were a direct result of having ankles the size of Andre the Giant's thighs. Generally speaking, foot problems aren't chronic unless there is an underlying structural or muscular problem, which is extremely uncommon in hockey players.

The two that come to mind outside of Forsberg were Pat Peake (traumatic injury) and Dave Scatchard (medical condition).

This.

It's a hairline fracture guys ... I'd be willing to bet that this happens 100 times a year in the NHL, and 95 of those times it isn't even reported.

Anyone think this story was floated out there to push a team over the top if they are considering Brassard. The possibility that Carter could have lingering foot problems, wink- wink, may require us have more of a need for Brassard. Just a theory, didnt notice Carter having any problem skating Saturday.

With the reported loss of potentially one game, not really. Interesting theory though, keep those eyes looking around.

Or maybe the team is just simply being honest for a change, instead of reporting the usual "lower body injury"

Latest blog entry is wonderful. So debating on what to do with Carter and allowing the injury to fully heal? Nice.

Getting better by the day.

Portzline had to get a quote from Carter's agent? Where's Carter, at his summer house in NJ?

He wasn't at practice, so he can only quote somebody he can get on the phone.

@Aportzline Puck-rakers: #CBJ C Jeff Carter will miss Tuesday vs. #Stars and possibly more; C Derick Brassard to take his spot

This is the last thing this club needs. Having 2 offensive threats like Juice and Carter out of the lineup aint good.
