I'm not a conspiracy guy, but this whole thing smells funny.

Why is this coming up now? Would it be coming up if we were 4-0-1?

Someone talk me down.

They're calling it a season and shutting Carter down to rest him up for the next decade he has with the Jackets.

Or, he's thinking about retiring and coaching the Adirondack Phantoms.

I'm ready and standing by just in case.

Note: the first time I posted this, it didn't appear, which only adds to the conspiracy theories given credence here.

Per Bob McKenzie :

Quote:
The Columbus Blue Jackets, minus the suspended James Wisniewski, are off to a 0-4-1 start and the news only gets worse from there. The Jackets' other prize off-season acquisition, Jeff Carter, has a hairline fracture on the same foot that required surgery following the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs and there's no telling when he might play again.

The Blue Jackets initially suggested Carter would perhaps only miss one game and be able to play through the pain. While no timeline has officially been specified by anyone, Carter's agent Rick Curran did say the player will play when the injury is healed, which is to suggest it may be one thing to play through the pain of a fractured foot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but it may be another thing to do it five games into the regular season. Actually, Carter has been playing hurt since originally injuring the foot on the second day of training camp.

So that all sounds an awful lot like Carter going from day-to-day to perhaps week-to-week, which would not be great news for a club that had such high hopes to start the season and now finds itself on the verge of getting buried in the first two weeks.

They better go to nash, and tell him to show up and bring it during this period. It amazes me the difference Nash is at when he decides to play hungry, and agressive, compared to many nights when he seems to go thru the motions. Rick, maybe your not a streaky player, but rather you get results when you bring the effort. This is what sets Ovie, and Sydney apart from you.

I agree 100%. Step it up Nash. You are one of the best players in the league when you fricken try. Play good tonight or we give the C to someone who gives 2 SH*TS.

Nash has 5 points in 5 games, he's far from one who's not "stepping it up"

Rick Nash has 2 goals and 3 assists in this pathetic start.

Of all the players that can be called out to step it up Nash is the last on that list. I am guessing that if they lose tonight the strip Nash of his "C" post will start.

He is for sure out best player even when he doesn't compete to his fullest. I think that he could be so much more if he was into all the games 100%. He could be a 50 goals a year player if he was more into the games. Our captain should never have any bad games. If he is having a bad game he should step up the physicality in his game.

Hopefully this is the year that he steps it up and becomes a leader.

I've always thought that Nash should be stripped of his C. Just because you are the best player on your team doesn't mean you deserve the C

Im not meaning to offend anyone here. I just think Nash is never held accountable for the way the team plays like he should be. He is the captain and should be blamed just as much coaches- owners.

You mean like a "Fire Nash" thread on HF Boards?

One question just because I am curious of the answer. Who would be your captain of choice?

I guess umby. although he isn't trying to hard either. Last year I would for sure say umby.

Who else do we have that plays hard every game and is respected by the other players?

That's not a very strong answer and should show that every player has their faults and there is never a perfect answer, but Nash is the best option we have and IMO has developed into a fine captain.

Actually, I pity Nash.
He's likely to become one of those old veterans who gets traded at the end of his career so that he can embarrassingly try to catch some other team's Stanley Cup Coattails.

Yep, that's right. He only plays hard when he wants to, like for team Canada. Oh, and by the way, Canada hates Columbus, and so do the officials, and Bettman. Oh, and Nash always is coasting thru the nuetral zone.............never gets in front of the net............doesn't talk to the media after every game..............is lazy...........etc.

He's a nearly a point a game player. There's not a team in the NHL that wouldn't take him.

lol. you guys are missing my point. I love Nash. I just want him to put in a little more effort. im not blaming him for the suckery these days. I just do not like that no one ever puts any blame on him. I do not care how many goals he has. im just saying that he could almost double that with a little more effort.
im predicting a 4-1 win for the jackets.
