Paradis is still with the Hawks?

Damn, whatever his injury is, it must be serious if they aren't even willing to send him down with it.

Ugh, first game of the season I won't see at least 60 minutes of. West coast starts are brutal with a 5:30 alarm.

Here's hoping that the Yotes inexplicably have a Blackhawks fan drop the puck like our game last year during Spring Training.

I hear ya, bro. I'm up at 6 every day and I'm not even bothering with the game tonight. I'll just DVR it and try to ignore the tv, papers, and internet tomorrow til I can watch it that night.

Lucky... I stream my games when they're not on VS, NHNN, or NBC later in the year since I'm in Atlanta. Wish I could DVR them. Maybe we'll dump 4 on them in the first period, and then I'll sleep a little better.

I'm also an early riser, went to bed at 9PM last night so I could have the energy to stay up for the game tonight.

All they're saying is it's an upper-body injury. He wasn't at practice yesterday, and it will be interesting to see if he's at the morning skate. I was hoping someone here would have some more info.

Although I also have to wake up at 5:30, these late games actually work out better for me because we usually put my daughter to bed at 9:00 PM...so I can watch the game without feeling guilty about it.

Can't wait for this game! Torres you piece of trash, you can't hide from 2 lines.

First chance for the Hawks to exact some retribution from last season. Will be interesting to see if Carcillo or Mayers goes after Torres.

On of these should have the stream. Can't load the sites at work, but if they don't have a link already... just check closer to game time. There is another one like Sports2Sports... but I can't remember it exactly off memory. I bet if you Google'd it enough, it'd pop up. It's a pretty big one as well.

I'm really not liking our second or fourth lines. Obviously Hossa being out is a huge hit to our forward depth, but we can do better than Stalberg and Carcillo as our 2nd line wingers. Why isn't Q using Olesz, is he hurt? I'd much rather have him on the fourth line than John Scott.

Our lines make it appear that we're not going to blow out anybody, but I think tonight our goaltending advantage gets it done. Let's leave the desert with two points, boys.

Edit: Checked Phoenix's lines, that center depth is just pitiful. Really, their entire forward corps is poor. The only thing that beats us tonight is if their defense completely shuts us down, and I don't see that happening. Especially not with Mike Smith between the pipes.

I'd like to see Seabrook and Keith back together to shut down Phoenix's top line. Doesn't seem like they have much beyond them...

That's the fear, them shutting us down defensively. I wouldn't be so quick to look past Smith. I think both he and Varlamov are going to surprise a lot of people this year. Smith had concussion issues but seems to have rebounded since being recalled by Tampa later last year. He's a good goalie, a big goalie who moves well. I actually don't think they'll suffer that much of a drop off between him Bryz, although he won't put up quite the numbers or games played that Bryz did. Also, look out for him when he has a chance to handle the puck. Turco tutored him well and he's one of the better goalies in the league at passing and clearing the zone.

I'm not dissing Smith, I'm just not sold on him as a starter in the NHL.

No kidding, for game in the East or Midwest, you can come home, eat and watch them after work and still make other plans for the night. Must be nice.

I don't think I would ever see a 1 o'clock EST NFL game, if I lived on the west coast, given how my weekend typicall are. Right back at ya!!! Not to mention, what beats steak and eggs, a bloody mary or beer, at 12:30 in the afternoon right before the games kickoff.
