I'll listen to the best player of all time when he says that Naslund is the best player in the game today.

I like your avatar, but you need to stop buying that Prince George marajuana. Naslund is twice the player Smyth is.

I think Naslund is the better player, but Smyth has twice the heart.

Isn't it marijuana?

Naslund has more talent than Smyth ... no argument. Id take Smyth over Naslund without even thinking twice.

you are just hearing what you want to hear simply because Naslund is from your favourite team.

im looking forward to the day Naslund goes home so we can replace him with a new captain.

You really have a strong dis-like for Naslund, don't you? No, he's not the greatest captain around, he doesn't always show up for the big games, but he's an awesome player nonetheless and the Canucks would be hurting without him. It's not always the Captains fault when the team does poorly. IMO, the Canucks could have Steve Yzerman as their captain and they still would've bowed out in each of the last two playoff years. The team as a whole needs to wake up.

I'm hearing what I want to hear from the greatest hockey player ever. I'll take what Gretzky says to heart and what you say with a grain of salt.

He must be overrated by everyone in the game then too, considering his peers considered him the best player in the league last year.

Well, I guess it depends on which Colin White we're talking about. If were talking about the neandrethal that showed up in 03-04, you can have him for a 5th. But if he returns to 02-03 form, when I feel he was one of the better stay at home / physical defensemen in the league, I wouldn't even trade him for Jovo straight up. Not that the value isn't there, but I feel that White is just a great fit on this team.

I don't think that Jovo has enough value for Langenbrunner and White. Langenbrunner is our best rw, and more highly reguarded by the organization than most people realise. He scores the points of a second liner, but the other things he does (defensive, physical, leadership) give him almost the value of a 1st line forward.

yes they did and that counts for something. however, it was now over a season ago and frankly he is living off his reputation.

colour me not impressed. you are welcome to disagree.

Everyone's welcome to their opinion. I just dont understand how after one season of injury/tradgedy, where he is still a first-team all-star suddenly you want him out of town.

We don't need more depth and the value doesn't even come close.
Using the Blake deal as comparison...

Blake + Reinprecht = Deadmarsh + Miller + Aulin + 1st rounder + conditional 1st rounder

That's the kind of return we'd want for Niedermayer.

because he is a soft one dimensional player and if he was off the team we would have 6m to spend on changing the top end dynamic of our team.

I don't know man, didn't Kovalchuk make like 1.75 million last year?

approx $4 million a season in his first 2, and i'm not sure what kind of bonuses he set off winning the Richard last season... so i assume more.

St Louis did make $1.5 million though, so obviously Naslund's far from the best bargain.

since when? he may have had a poor outing in the World Cup, but he was solid in both ends for Vancouver last season, and far from soft.

At his entry level contract yes, but dont be fooled. Kovy makes a TON of $$$ from bonuses.

Naslund already makes sweet coin as it is without bonuses. His bonuses are much more harder to reach than Kovalchuk's, and most likely for not as much cash.
