RIP Tony Greig.

Was always a good commentator. He loved his fishing.

The New Zealand team is terrible and the two best batters NZ has weren't even playing, no surprises that they got destroyed by SA at home really. Even if Taylor and Ryder were there we'd still get destroyed.

Pretty sure Aussie got rolled out for 47 last time they were over in SA.

Only if SA could perform like this when it mattered. They've had the talent to be the best team in the world for a while now.

Aftermath of the Warne/Samuels BBL incident. Did anyone catch that live?

Samuels was bit cheeky in the first innings while he was bowling and kind of interfered with David Hussey while he was turning to look at taking a 2nd run.

Nothing much seemed to go on at that point other than Hussey having a little gripe.

I think Warne may have decieded to raise the incident later on as his team was flat and heading towards a lose.

He started giving verbal abuse to Samuels a few balls prior to the incident.

Then for no reason he threw the ball at Samuels and hit him. Was clearly meant as Samuels was 3 or 4 yards wide of the stumps and Warne was throwing more away from the stumps than at them.

Samuels threw his bat into the air (wasnt directed at anybody) and there was a face to face shouting match.

Yeah I did. What Samuels did to Hussey (pulling his shirt when D. Hussey was going for 2nd run) was wrong but it should've been handled after the match by match referee. What Samuels should've done is clobber Warne over the head with his bat. Warne is an idiot. An all time great but also an absolute ****wit.

Was also somewhat disappointed with Finch (whom I love since I'm a Renegades fan) who was batting with Samuels at the time. He should stepped him and drag Samuels away or tell Warne to **** off. Instead he pretty much just watched as Warne abused Samuels. It's your team mate for crying out loud, stick up for him. Then again Finch was in a tough spot because Cameron White, Hussey, McKay, Maxwell, Hodge and couple more are his team mates as well (they play state cricket together - Victoria).

Also Warne and rest of the Stars players should be ashamed. When Malinga bounced Samuels and hit him in the head it was only Malinga that checked up to see if Samuels was OK. The rest of them just looked on.

We did. Same pitch too. We also had a full squad.

Thanks for bringing it up, was trying to erase it out of my memory.

It's a joke that they gave out only a one game suspension to Warne. It should have been 10 games to him, and a couple to Samuels.

What a ****ing disgrace.

You guys now know what it's like being a bd fan now. That 40 something all out against WI will forever haunt me. It was on home soild too. Feel sorry for the folks who dished out big time $ to watch that game.

The good thing with bowling first is you can't get bowled out in the 1st day

and at least we've made it to 47/6 in our first innings this time instead of being rolled out for 45

Though if Philander was playing we probably would be all out by now.

BJ Watling saved us.

Was also good to finally see Martin Guptill get to 48. I fell asleep during the second session last night and had a dream where he edged one down to the slips to be on his way for 9.

I'm guessing it was a dream, because I seem to remember it happening for some reason but the scorecard disagreed with me this morning.

It seems like Taylor might be back for you guys for the England series. Dought Rider stays back too much after Taylor returns.

Daniel Flynn should be dropped with Ross Taylor getting his place, and either Trent Boult or Neil Wagner will be dropped to make way for the return of Tim Southee. If it were me I'd drop Wagner. We'll have a look at the attack as well; it'll be Southee, Bracewell, and Boult/Wagner; Jeetan Patel didn't look very useful at all with the ball in hand so it might not be a long shot to see him make way for Daniel Vettori if he's fit. That would leave use with three pacemen, a spinner, and a medium pacer in Colin Munro (who didn't perform all that well with the bat but was a useful bowler).

I briefly floated the idea of bringing in Daniel Vettori as a batsman, but I'm not sure whose place he'd take. He's not an opener, and a top order of Ross Taylor, Dean Brownlie and Kane Williamson (who needs to be placed down the order a bit, preferably at 5 - he's not doing well coming in at 3) is probably the best we can do right now. Some people I know have floated the idea of BJ Watling replacing Martin Guptill as an opener, but having your keeper as your opener is a little odd. I don't think we'd go for it.

Renegades vs Heat game tonight.

Finch back for the Gades, and Cutting back for Brisbane.

-----

Now the real cricket issue of the world right now...how does Moises Henriques get a game for Australia?

Ryder is aiming at the England tour for his return - as I expected. Good news for NZ.

What a failure of a game. 5 guys combined scored double figures, the top score being 22.

Well who would've thought the Kiwis would be taking out the one dayers in the republic with our two best batsman at home and after the terrible performances earlier in the tour.

Jesse Ryder has ruled out a return to international cricket in the immediate future and is unlikely to play for New Zealand when England arrive for their tour next month, but he will be spending time with the team. Ryder had said earlier this month that he was leaving a door open for the England series but his agent confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that Ryder felt he "needed more time" before he could make an international comeback.

Yeah just saw that. Well he's still travelling with the team, so it's just a matter of time.
