I remember seeing that Carolina had drafted him that year. I was amazed, wasn't he a 3rd round pick? The knock against him was always that he had lots of heart, but that was about it. He worked hard. He played hard. He just wasn't full of talent and projected to be an AHL defenseman.

Jess is a pretty solid player...he is a good skater who is pretty sound skill wise...he definately has heart...his biggest problem is his tendency to chase the puck carrier, and that is something he was working on correcting with Des Moines last season...i think he would be a good acquisition...
