Send Bourque to Carolina. Just tell us what you'd want in return? Dalpe+Kaberle?

no need for Kaberle unless you want Babchuk back. Although I don't think Babchuk would waive to go back to Carolina nor do I think the Canes would want him back. But Dalpe is definitely a good starting point.

I am not sure what your internal budget is, but could the Canes take on Bourque's contract without giving any players back other than Dalpe? I would prefer Dalpe + a 3rd/4th than taking another player back since we don't have much space on our NHL roster at the moment, even less when Backlund returns from injury

The two teams I keep looking at that make me a bit curious are New Jersey and Boston, especially Boston. They appear to have the cap space, they have drafted high enough and well enough in recent years they could afford to move their 1st rounder ad adding Bourque without pulling a key player from their roster could be a decent boost, especially with the injury to Krejci
I agree.

Yeah that doesn't scare me off. I'd rather give up prospects so the B's don't have a log jam of guys becoming NHL ready at the same time, but I think Bourque's resume and recent comps mean he'll net a 1st (and a prospect) at the deadline.

Yeah, Sauve works. Caron could be in the mix too because Bourque would block his path to the NHL for the foreseeable future.

Another guy that will probably get scoffed at (deservedly so) is Zach Hamill. But he came to camp in terrific shape and looked like a new man, stronger, quicker, faster... He's off to a good start in Providence too, scoring 4g and 7p in 8 games. It might be a good time to buy low on him because I can't see him having a future (at C) in Boston either.

I do like the Boston trade; 1st + Jordan Caron for Rene Bourque?

Dalpe and a 1st round pick would be intriguing to me.

I think that's very fair value, and a trade that would work for both teams. However, I think Boston would be looking for a bigger fish if they were to deal Caron and a first-round pick.

If LA was interested, I would look at a package centered around Voynov, who I think will be a very good top-3 defenceman.

Good post, doesn't Boston need a depth defenseman? Maybe we could send Mikkelsson/Carson and a third to balance it out.

To BOS:

RW Rene Bourque
Future Considerations*

To CGY:

Boston 1st Round Pick, 2012
RW Jordan Caron

*Boston is the first call made IF (and only IF) Calgary is open to moving Iginla at the trade deadline.

just curious, if you give up your 1st and one of your top prospects for Bourque, what would be left to acquire Iginla?

Just off the top of my head:

Spooner
Knight
Hamilton
Sauve
Boychuk
Kampfer

and the players on the current lineup who may find themselves in the doghouse.

Not really seeing how boston would probably move a core player like Krejci or a different top 6 to open up cap room for iggy plus the umteen number to good-great prospects as mentioned above.

Would a deal around Hamilton straight up for bourque with boston work? Calgary could use a stud d prospect.

They'd probably want Iginla for that.
