Blew, Blank and Rude. But a Win is a Win.

The Good -

- Miller. Studly.
- Penalty killing.
- Stafford was one of the few who seemed alive all night. Good jump, creative and it paid off.
- McCormick turning the game around with a fight with Moen. Great energy from M-G-K, and that woke them up
- GGK after McCormick went off
- ERS after McCormick went off
- Vanek's goal was nice set-piece work.
- Sekera has to be tired after hauling Gragnani's ass all night
- Amerks win!!
- An empty net goal? No way.

The Bad -

- Did they miss the wakeup call? The first thirty minutes were pretty terrible.
- E-L-B most of the game.
- Not liking Gragnani most of the night in most aspects.
- Myers turn over machine in the first 30 minutes.

The Ugly -

- Eh. Probably Ennis and Adam getting lugged from behind (back quarter) and no calls.
- Ennis' hair.

Weird game. Not one I'd ever want to watch again.

The Sabres never looked good tonight. Even when they supposedly "turned it on" after 30 minutes they seemed to be playing at 40 percent. That was all Miller, McCormick, and one hell of a tic-tac-toe draw play.

Bank the 2 points and forget about this one. What a clunker.

And for the love of God, Yahweh, Allah, whatever...put in Weber next game!

Give Miller the 2 points. That game is the definition of an ugly win. Habs really wanted that game and it showed. I'm still shocked they won.

- McCormick doing the deed, and providing the spark
- Ennis in the 3rd period

the bad
- Leino was terrible
- Gragnani meet press box

the ugly
- the first period

The incredible:

Miller

The good:

Sekera played a great game, IMO. Probably our best Dman tonight, with Regehr close behind.
Myers in the 2nd half was his usual shutdown self
Stafford
Ennis-Roy-Stafford -- Awesome line tonight
Mac-Goose-Kaleta -- Really brought the energy before Mac went off
Perfect set piece at the end of the 2nd
Boyes may not have done a lot, but I saw him throw his body more than any previous game.

Bad:
Gragnani was very meh all game. Weber needs to be in.
Leino. Got himself benched at the end.

Ugly:
Team effort in the first 30 min.
Myers in the first 30 min

Miller was unreal. Cody McCormick knows his role on this team, his fight immediately led to the Leopold goal.

We didn't deserve 2 points tonight, and Ruff will surely let them know.

Good:

Winning, Miller, a pretty set play to give us the lead, Cody McCormick changing the tide.

Bad and Ugly:

Pretty much everything else.

That was worse than an ugly win. That was completely stolen by Miller.

Good:
-A win is a win
-Miller was great other than the puckhandling gaffe.
-McCormick
-Sekera I thought was their best d-man for the first 30 minutes and still steady after that. And constantly bailing out Gragnani.
-Ennis-Roy-Stafford. Especially liked Stafford and Roy.
-The play on Vanek's goal

Bad:
-Gragnani
-Not liking Ehrhoff tonight
-Boyes and Leino getting demoted/benched. Can't argue with Ruff on that one though, both were bad.

Ugly:
-First 30 minutes
-Gragnani playing over Weber
-Myers for the first 30 minutes was hard to watch
-Garbage call on Ennis

Good: Miller was unfrigginbelievable.
- winning games when we play like THAT

Bad: Looks like Leino will need some time to get this system down.

Ugly: Maybe the worst 1st period i've seen in years. i figured they were drunk.

I'd like to see the media acknowledge McCormick's role in this game. The team's game instantly elevated after that scuffle (even though it didn't elevate past 40 percent...)

Good:

Miller. Easily the #1 reason why we won this game.
The setup on Vanek's goal. Couldn't have executed that play any better.
McCormick providing the spark.

Bad:

The first thirty minutes or so.
The officiating, as expected when you play in Montreal.

Ugly:

Ennis' hairdo.

Good: The win is symbolic of a good team. Win when you don't have your best game going. It all comes down to winning and they got that down, when they were outplayed for most of the game.

Miller was top notch.

Grangini needs a few games in the press box.

Ennis had jump/spark tonight and I'm ok. He's pressing but one goal and he'll knock off 5 in 10 games.

Stafford was best player on the ice, cool and smooth. Great outlet pass to Ennis for breakaway.

Just win baby and we are 4-1. I'll take it.

G.

Miller turned in another epic performance.

Cody really stirred the pot, great job! Goose too, those guys are tremendous!

Leino showed a nice rebound shift, I like to see that kind of character in a player and I think that goes a long way to fitting in with the team.

Stafford looks like too much winger for some defense men.

Sekera played an amazing game, he looked unbeatable 1 on 1, Lydmanish.

Leopold's sweet goal!

Vanek's sweet goal!

B.

Leino showing off in the d-zone. Dude, I get that you can protect the puck like a pittbull, that's your bread and butter and that's fine. But if you want to make the coach hate you, go ahead and try to trap a guy by stick handling around him in your own zone. You're not 6'3", nobody is buying that crap, even a small team like the Habs. When in doubt get it out. Leino is going to be fine, but that shift was a painful one.

Leopold's deer in head lights look when Leino turned it over. You gotta process the situation faster than that, and back up your teammate!

Gianta Slashing himself...WTH!?!

Subban's Diving.

U.

Myers first period. Some games his hands do not show up. This was one of them.

The Unreal: Miller.

Good:
Cody McCormick is the man, so glad he stepped up.
Staff
Ennis-Roy-Stafford in the 3rd
Sekera for most of the game
That face off play was perfect
Gerbe-Goose-McCormick
The pk units

Bad
Myers until midway through the 2nd
All the point blank chances

Ugly
First 30 minutes of the game
Leino-Boyes for most of the night
Grags, have fun being the #7 dman again

Good:
-Miller
-The second goal setup off of the icing, turned the game.
-Stafford, Roy, Ennis - I hope they keep this line together.

Bad:
-Just about everything else, but Leino was obvious.
-Myers was brutal right from the start. So was everyone on defense though.
-Canadians icing it with 2 seconds left in the second. Brutal play.

Ugly:
- I know we should give it time, but benching your 6 year, $4.5 mil signing this early in the season is a bad sign.

Good

Miller
Face off set play
Gerbe
Cody
Regehr

Bad

Missed passes and turnovers in the first 30 minutes

Ugly

Myers 1st 30 minutes (seriously Regehr must have been constantly thinking "oh god what have you gone and gotten us into this time" every shift)
Officiating
Subban

-----------------------

An aside: the personnel in on that set play is very revealing. Gaustad and Vanek are obvious choices to take the faceoff and the shot - but apparently Ruff thinks MAG is the best guy to field the faceoff and make the first pass. Interesting.
