I know what is wrong

Oh ya there is something wrong!

It is the fans who are too critical of a young developing hockey player which is barely wet behind the ears. Placing any athlete on such a high pedestal before they can even prove LONG TERM what they are capable of is disastrous.

Maybe what you see is what you get. Nobody has a Crystal ball to see how anybody continues to develop, let alone Myers. Remember teams adjust to how a player is and that said player needs to continue to adjust their games to continue to grow. Some can and some can not.

Now I am not in any way being critical of Myers, but just relax and see how he ages and stop the star building before we know how somebody stacks up long term.

Its a five game stretch and he has played fiar to well until last night. His points will come, although maybe at a slower pace being on the #2 PP unit.
I don't either. I do think he's trying to focus on that part of his game, though. Even if he has the option to roam as he pleases (which I'm sure he does), it seems to me he's focusing on being more physical and playing the body as a priority.

In all fairness to Myers, he's had like 5 different defensive partners over the past couple of years. I'm not surprised he's again "struggling" early in the season. And yes, by struggle we mean "still better than 80-85% of the defenders out there."

He's getting 5.5 million next season per season... Darn right he is on a high pedestal he isn't some rookie he is a 22 year old 3rd year d-man, if we think he does belong on doughtys level then he has to be put on the pedestal .

No can do. Both play the right side on the PP (and at ES for that matter)

You need to check the definition of the word "fact" - Any kind of "post-contract swoon" or "contract year bounce" is conjecture, and certainly not consistent or guaranteed for all players.

Hmmm...but what if. Now bear with me this is a very radical idea. But, what if...Myers...SWITCHED sides! Just for the power play!

Not the best idea, considering our trouble keeping the puck in so far

well that certainly is true. i am surprised that grags got the slot over leopold. If there was some kind of way to pair myers with Ehrhoff on the powerplay. hell put myers in as a forward.

that's been due too bad rap a rounds. Besides reach has been known to assist with the keeping of the puck in the zone.

During the offseason, Ruff came right out and said one of the priorities was to create a shutdown pair......

I say they have succeeded with Myers and Regher.

You have to take into consideration that Myers was asked to do everything last year, and now play a more controled game this year. Last year we started out horrible as a team win/loss wise, this year we are 4-1.

I'm not complaining.

Why can't Myers play the left? Right-handed shot and he could actually hit a one-timer for once.

I wonder if Tyler works hard in the offseason. I know he talks about how hard it is for him to put on weight, but I dont know. Maybe he just isnt getting himself ready to play?

Last year he started slow also.

This team is so deep and everyone plays such even minutes now that I think it will be hard for anyone to put up big numbers this year, no matter how well they play.

Huh??? And if Regehr gets hurt? And what if at the same time Sekera gets hurt? What's your solution then?

Yep. While obviously at ES you want him playing on the right, many D-men switch sides on the PP to open up for one-timers in the offensive zone.

Then again, given our propensity to give up shorties...maybe not such a good idea

Just a powerplay idea

Put pominville back on the point with Ehrhoff and play myers on the right wing
