OOTP... hockey?

Suprised there isn't a thread on this- if there is and I missed it sorry... I looked but didn't see... anyway here it is.

For those who didn't know OOTP (out of the park) is a baseball sim similiar to EHM, and FOF (football). They've been around a while so this is great news that there is life for a new text sim

Quote:

He shoots! He scores! And the crowd goes wild! That was a top shelf goal, folks!

Love hockey? We do too, and that's why we brought our deep experience developing sport management sims to the sport with the newest game we're adding to our lineup. As in OOTP, our upcoming hockey game will let you take over a team and make all the decisions: hire and fire coaches; sign, release, and trade players; oversee financials; and dictate game-time strategy, including when to pull your goalie, which lines to use when, and more.

We know you're anxious to learn more, so here's a rundown to get you started:

1. What exactly is the Hockey Project?
The Hockey Project is a career hockey text sim game for PC and Mac, similar to OOTP, FM and EHM.

2. You're calling it the Hockey Project?
No, that's just our placeholder name until we come up with the final one.

3. When will the Hockey Project be released?
The release is planned for late 2012 (Q4).
.
.
.
.
7. What are the planned features?

Important: the following list is not complete and may change during development.

- Single-player career mode for the 2012/2013 season.
- Included minimum leagues (playable): NHL, AHL, ECHL, QMJHL, OHL and WHL. Additional leagues (from Europe) will depend on the number of Researchers we can acquire.
- Dynamic News and Event system (based on XML files)
- Editable Injury system (based on external file)
- Online Leagues
- All League Rules, Leagues, Player and Teams are editable.
- Stats, Stats and more Stats (hey, we are OOTP Developments)

8. How can I help with the project?
In the near future we will start to recruit Researchers to work on all the leagues we want to include. Later, we will add additional beta testers to the team. More possible positions we might add later are French translators and writers for news, injuries and other related stuff. We will start threads on this topic soon, but if you have interest to help out, please contact me at sebastian@ootpdevelopments.com

Was going to post this as a OOTP veteran and beta tester.

This is pretty damn promising.

I haven't played OOTP in a few years, just not a baseball fan at all, but their games are great, the multiplayer was great as well- so hopefully this is able to do some of those things also.

Now the hardest part is waiting a year...

I sure hope it pans out. We desperately need a quality management game. I don't suspect EHM will ever come back to life, which would be preferred, but OOTP has a tried and true history of quality.

Was just about to make a thread, glad I looked to the second page.

I'm thrilled to hear this. Before the announcement, I had never heard of OOTP. But after researching it and taking a look at the features, it looks very good, and I've heard good things about it.

Can't wait! I really hope this pans out and they're able to stick with it. Losing EHM stunk.

I've already signed up to help, sounds like we're quite a few from the old NHL EHM head researcher crew on board already.

it's great seeing your names and willingness to help. You guys both did tremendous work for EHM and can only imagine what you guys can do for this game.

Nice to see some early interest in our hockey project. I'm a long time lurker here but think this is a good time to finally register.

Funny note is that I now work on a hockey manager game and can't watch the NHL for the first since maybe 10 years on German TV (thinking about it, it is sad not funny ), maybe I should give in and order the Game Center stuff. Has anyone from Europe experience about the quality when using the PS3 to stream it on your big screen?

No experience with NHL Gamecenter, but the NFL package worked, although it was a little choppy and grainy for me.

Hm, I just don't want to pay 120 Euros and then have a bad picture. I have a pretty good internet connection and MLB.tv works perfect on my PS3, still not sure about Game Center.

Welcome to the #1 spot of my most anticipated game list! I REALLY hope this goes well. EHM 2007 is one of my favorite games.

If they plan on marketing this thing right I can see this being a big hit for them since OOTP is already a very well respected name in North America and they did quite well after splitting from SI.

Good news, guys! From Sebastian himself over at the OOTP site:

But good news is that we released an early beta
version to the head researcher team and now fix all
the small, annoying bugs that get reported. Our
player-, league- and team database growths every
day, we just made the jump to 2012/13, adding
schedules (if already existing), importing career stats for last season (at least for the NHL player) and
move player to there last team. But you guys have not to wait to long for more
news, we finalized the name and logo, so it will get
presented in the next few days. We will launch a
Facebook page and a Twitter account with the
announcement. The game still has no final graphics
but all baseball graphics are gone and replaced by at least placeholder graphics. So you can expect 1-2
early screenshots short after the name/logo is
announced.

I just found out about this game an hour ago, and I'm so excited. OOTP Baseball 13 is the best sports manager game I've played bar none (AINEC, and I'm not a big baseball fan), so I'm over the moon right now. Soooo high expectations!
