I will say this much... the amount of seething that Pens fans are doing and have done to date over Jagr-to-Flyers is an awesome spectacle to behold.

To this day...I still don't blame Jagr.

Do I like him? Nah. But I dont have the spitfire many seem to do towards him.

I thought that I was the only one that was more pissed at mgmt than Jagr. Look at what he did before his stop here and afterwards. I never heard he was a bad apple before coming here. Expecting Cassidy to get us a cup set us back about 5-10 years. Ted learned, dont let a child drive the ferrari. Let George handle that.

There's a lot of blame to go around, but I do hold him accountable for the worst of it.

When he came on board, we had elite goaltending, very good d and great f depth. He was supposed to be the missing piece and finally get Bondra, Kolzig, Oates and callejo a legitimate cup chance. All he had to do was show up, and he didn't.

Yes, McPhee destroyed the defense, Ted botched the coach, but we didn't even get to see if it would have worked because he never even showed up.

listening to jagr himself, it was pretty clear. he thought he was being traded to the rangers. a place where he would remain a high profile athlete/personality. he was traded to the capitals were he was very much not.

he or his agent convinced him that the contract he was offered to commit would make up for it. but he hated it. he hated it from the get go and that was backed up by statements made by halpern and witt among others.

cassidy didnt make it any better, but the apparant facts are that he hated every minute in washington. what was it that brendan witt said? "he was making $11m a year. you'd think that would be enough for him to play hard"

Interesting take considering how and why he was traded to us.

A lot of blame but Jagr is still responsible for his own self and professionalism

There was more wrong with that team than the player, but Jagr noted the awkward situation and by his own admission, quit when everything wasn't laid out on a platter for him. Cassidy was terrible and Leonsis was meddling, but the superstar took his $11M and decided to punch the clock until they moved him. He bears plenty of the blame; just not all of it.

btw...the bad apple thing continued as a member of the rangers. when things got a little difficult there, he didnt handle it so well. recall the famous team captain that refused to shoot in the shootout.

when he was in DC jagr acted like a teenager working at kinko's and was pulling down 11 million a year.

he's a piece of ****. i hope OV humiliates him every time they play and chimera outscores him.

Effing ponderous....

How anyone can forgive that guy for his 40% effort he gave this city after getting that contract extension is mind boggling. Yes the coaching staff was a debacle....still be a professional you little *****.

Jagr...sigh. I remember the awesome feeling the day the caps landed him. As well as the utter disgust at him leading up to him being traded away thankfully.

AO's hit on Jagr in the Olympics sort of felt like karma so that is out of my system now.

My season ticket holder years straddled and included those Jagr years. What a frustrating time waiting for that one spark a great defensive club needed, then elation when they dealt for Jagr, then the steady underdelivering years followed by the eventual firesale.

The firesale sucked. Watching the young team improve later on was fun, and we remember watching that fondly, but the firesale itself was such a drag. Fans hoping to see their teams try to lose and then wait years to improve don't get that, I think. No one should want to see it happen.

Caps are my 2nd favorite team yet this is my first time posting on your board.

How has Ovi looked so far, I haven't been able to watch. He doesn't seem to be helping me much in my hockey pool.

Here is to a Caps soon to be 6 - 0 start!

I didn't hate the firesale. I hated seeing Bondra go, but the firesale is what kindled my interest in hockey prospects, and it got me to start watching and paying attention to the rest of the league.

For every Brian Muir they had in the lineup, they also had a young Brooks Laich or Matt Pettinger. A lot of those guys didn't pan out, but it was fun anticipating the debut of a young player, regardless of what happened to him in the NHL. Hell, for a few weeks there I was really excited to watch Jacub Cutta play hockey.

Plus it's fun to root for the underdog.

if jagr did anything positive for the team, it was showing ted that the hockey people are more likely to make better decisions.
