The Optimism Thread...

The seasons early and while I am concerned, I still believe in this team.

Post 1 thing your seriously optimistic about.

I think a big win Friday on the road over Wings will give this team the confidence they need to right the ship.

I'm actually thinking about betting on the Jackets Friday, $100 bucks can earn $320 if the CBJ win and I think they might..

I hope they win. I hope the team takes off and the ship is righted.

I'm on the record as saying that I think Howson and Arneil don't know s**t about ******. I will still cheer for them - never boo them in a game -

GO CBJ!!!

There's still 152 points on the table for the Jackets to grab, and they 'only' need about 60-65% of these to make the playoffs.

There's a very good chance I will see and hear little of Rimer this season.

Two games with Detroit derailed us last year, Maybe these next two (spread over 3) will put us back on track.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa....

Who does the magic number and playoff projections around here? I regard this post as the equivalent of one male buffalo deciding that he's going to challenge another for the title of herd leader.

Your compete level in your projections has been lacking. Must have been the 4-year contract extension you signed in the off-season...

Haven't you heard? We Ohio backwoods hilljacks just mow animals like those ****ers down.

On topic:
There are a couple players who are showing signs of late. Kris Russell in particular has been playing well. I hope he can maintain it. I want my daughter's jersey to be for a current player for a long time.

I'm thinking this team will begin to jell and play better by November.

The CBJ can't be that bad...

They can at least skate.

For the benefit of those Jackets fans who may be unfamiliar with the word Optimism:

From the American Heritage Dictionary...

op·ti·mism

NOUN:

A tendency to expect the best possible outcome or dwell on the most hopeful aspects of a situation: "There is a touch of optimism in every worry about one's own moral cleanliness" (Victoria Ocampo).

Philosophy
a) The doctrine, asserted by Leibnitz, that this world is the best of all possible worlds.

b) The belief that the universe is improving and that good will ultimately triumph over evil.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ETYMOLOGY:
French optimisme, from New Latin optimum, the greatest good ; see optimum

Hope this helps; I know I needed a refresher myself on the concept.

The Viking Curse has been lifted off the NHL so maybe their bad juju will allow the Jackets to score 3 goals every game now!

edit: by Viking Curse I mean NHL worked out a deal where all of the Scandos and Nords can watch every game live.

Losing = cheaper tickets on stubhub. So I saved money not buying full year package.

More good news, as you probably know SH tickets that are listed electronically often begin decreasing in cost three days before the game... wait until a few hours before game time and you may get lower bowl tickets for a buck.....

This team is too good to be this bad. Most of the pieces desired to improve are there. It's just getting them to all mold together to make it all work.

Plus, once Juice gets back, it'll be fun to see who ends up on the top line with Nash and Carter between he and Vinny.

Oh, and hey...our defense may be iffy, but they've done a miraculous job of turning away EN goals against. Right?

If I were to buy a ticket on stub hub an hour before the game how would I receive the ticket and use it to get in? I assume electronically but could you detail it for me?
