No way Hedman would drop the gloves with Martin.

Before we get too critical of the Islanders, keep in mind that the Lightening are a very good team, and some people have picked them to win the Cup.

and what a great choice to have gillies play this game. what did he play 3 shifts the whole game?? i hate that guy so much. much rather see comeau there and mayb can spark some offense. i know hes so inconsistent but atleast he can add some offense

this is a dreadful game. LOL at martin dropping the gloves and hedman not doing nothing, he knew martin woulda killed him. my only hope is the team turns it around in the third. wishful thinking tho

2-0 Lightning after the second.

The Islanders look like a team that had too many off days.

Growing tired of the lack of effort. Islanders content to sit back all game. Which is fine when tavares is lighting up teams, but not fine when your down 2-0. Nobody is driving.

Still flat, plainly being outworked.

Winnable game that they aren't seizing.

D has been solid, sans that one turnover.

KO looks like he missed the past 2 seasons, he's even having difficulty corralling the puck on the forecheck.

Like Martin going after Hedman.

i hate that people are using the 'post ranger' excuse, its been FOUR ****ING DAYS, and the game wasnt even that intensive! there was really not that much hitting in that game, how is there any way they be looking like this? just a very very different team this year than the one that played over the last 3-4 months of last season. just no intensity..

Capuano made some line change in the 2nd half of the period. Okposo played with Bailey and Martin while Rolston played with Nielsen and Grabner. I'd personnaly prefered to see a line of Rolston-Bailey-Okposo and Grabner-Nielsen-Martin.

Doesn't look like we came ready to play, playing a really sloppy game tonight..way too many turnovers and virtually no sustained pressure in the offensive zone. Gillies is useless, would much rather see Haley up, at least he can take a regular shift.

Tavares isn't getting any help.

To sum up the game so far:

Pretty Bad period. AMac once again gave the puck up, this time the Lightning capitalized on it. I never thought I would ever say this, but Mark Eaton I think has been the best defensemen tonight, along with Staios. Mottau is terrible, did anyone else see with about 1 minute left, he passed the puck right into the slot? Can't wait untill Jurcina comes back and he goes to the press box.

Aside from the 1st line, no one is creating offensive, that has to change real soon if they are going to have long term success this season. Normally I wouldn't say Game over only being down 2 with a period left to play, but tonight they just don't have it. Staios, Eaton, Tavares, Parenteau and Moulson are the only guys that got off the plane I guess.

Only way they can points out of this game is if they can find a way to score a goal in the first few minutes.

one thing i noticed just from a very limited sample size is that grabner doesnt look as explosive as he did last year. that 'aaaaand he's gone' from last year doesnt look to be there for some reason..

I agree. I think our defense (except Mattau) and goaltending has been pretty good too. It seems to me that Grabner took some time last year before he really got going. I'm beginning to believe Okposo is a 3rd line checking forward. It might be time to mix things up a bit.

Also, I understand Comeau is off to a real slow start and I get scratching him for a game to send a message, but this is ridiculous doing so again. Gillies is useless and barely even plays. It's one thing to scratch Comeau, but if your going to do so call up Haley or Ullstrom, someone who can atleast play a regular shift. Totally disagree with Capuano's choice here.

I think I knew that!

I have on eye on editing a book I'm working on and the other eye on the game...

May very well be the worst offensive performance I have ever seen...and seeing as I go back to he last 70's with this team, that's a ****ing mouthful.

Like Martin going after Hedman.
He has looked like that all pre-season and the last 3 games. He needs to wake up!!
