GUY BOUCHER:
Quote:
  • "Frustration can't be in the minds with either the players or the staff. That's our job, to get better, and it's our job to take it one step at a time and make sure we get it. It's not about crushing ourselves and being disappointed and negative. That's the legacy of pessimistic people who sit and wait for good things to happen. If the glass is half empty, it's because we choose to see it half empty. We see it half full. When things are difficult, it's adversity, and adversity is the building blocks of success."
RYAN MALONE:
Quote:
  • "I’ve been in some bad games, and this one could have been worse, but we are playing like an inexperienced hockey team . . . and everybody has to look at themselves in the mirror and pick it up another gear because we don’t deserve to win any of these hockey games, that’s for sure. It’s very embarrassing, we don’t want to do that to the fans who put their hard-earned money into purchasing tickets to see the new rink, and everything looks great, and for us to come out like that is not acceptable."

LET'S GO BOLTS!

Is Brewer out tonight? If so what do your D pairings look like?

We're not sure yet

The Lightning defenseman (Brewer) indicated late Wednesday that as far as he was concerned, he would be available for tonight's game with the Islanders and said an MRI exam he had was "possibly" about an injury that had lingered for a while.

"We'll see (today)," Boucher said. "I'm going to church to light some candles."
But Garon is in net.

Mathieu Garon will be in goal to give Roloson a chance to regroup.
We'll probably know the lineup when they get on the ice this morning.

If Brewer can't play... Who will take his spot? Bruno G?

If Brewer is out, the D will be

Hedman
Clark
Bergeron
Kubina
Gilroy
Gervais

But Gervais could still be in even if Brewer is ok. Gilroy and him are rotating, so today might be his day since Gilroy has played the past 2.

Lightning D Brewer, who had an MRI for something on Wednesday, is on the ice at morning skate.

This is going to make somebody unhappy!

Looks like Shannon, Ritola and Gervais last off the ice - likely scratches tonight, which means Brewer would be in

Complete BS. Shannon does nothing but contribute and produce in the limited ice time he is given and Pyatt and Jones get back in?

Come on, Gary. What's with the hate for Shannon?

I'm guessing we'll dress 7 D tonight, btw.

Shannon has been non existent in the games he has played. It has already been mentioned that Shannon is having a hard time picking up the system as well as he should be. Pretty clear thats a good part of the reason why hes being scratched again.

Im a fan of Shannon but he needs to be better. Of course that could go for a lot of people haha.

Maybe because he gets 5 min of EV time. His 3 points is more than half team right now.

PR BS.

How many games have we played so far?

I agree with IdealisticSniper. His offense is fine for the role he has played, but he still needs to get everything down defensively. We are obviously in a tight spot where our Goalies have not been great and our team defense has had it's lapses. We can't afford to lose another game at home where we let in 5+ goals like we did Monday.

You're not going to convince me otherwise and the stats don't support this. He has always been known a reliable defensive forward and on a bad team last year he was the only plus +/- forward. This year he is even.

The +/- stat is really a bad stat. I don't like to use it to determine how good a guy is defensively. And I'm not saying he's bad defensively. It's about how well he plays the coaching staffs system. It's not the easiest thing to just pick up and play. It takes time and it also takes time to get use to playing with new players. Boucher is very very big on paying attention to the small details. And like I said we've lost 5 games in a row and I'm sure guys feel very ashamed about the home opener. We can't go out there and keep doing what we are doing. If we only lost 1 or 2 games, maybe it's wouldn't big such a big deal.
