No goal is meaningless.

I am predisposed though to the idea that the goal that puts the Lightning up, is going to be the game winner.

At the time, it seemed inconsequential

Connolly might be the next Pavel Datsyuk. Nasty puck control.

His dives are so effortless.

Clark scores a goal and celebrates it by making a dangerous pass in the defensive zone.

NHL.com is giving Stamkos a tip-in at the moment.

Why I think they're doing that is because Stamkos' stick seems to make a sudden jerk when Clark's shot passes by it.

Some will think that means Stammer made contact.

You know that thing when you're driving, and a big truck is coming the other way, and you sort of get pushed over a bit (or a lot) by the air it displaces?

THAT.

Apparently the scientists at NHL.com were disproven, they changed it to Clark.

We won. Toronto lost. The world is starting to correct itself. Time to go on the mainboards and question all the leafs do and ask for the cup.

anyone think that downie could be on the trade block? he doesnt seem up to speed this year. Makes a great third liner on that line with moore and jones but his value might be high enough to bring back a good yound dman?

Edit: Not that I think we should trade him but he is probably the only piece that is worth something that i find expendable.

Ahhh, win column. Feels good man.

Chances Garon starts Saturday? Thinking they're pretty good. Didn't face much shots, but he did make some excellent saves.

Downie is going nowhere. He's one of the best pitbulls we have for puck retrieval. He was at the end of a shift when he committed that lazy stick penalty. Hedman was pretty damned dominant all game. Much easier to do that when you know your forwards are skating up the backsides of their forwards though.

We won tonight.

If we win on Saturday that's 2 in a row. That's called a winning streak. It has happened before.

They finally played a better disciplined game tonight with a few bouts of stupidity or laziness but things are looking up. Can't really rate Garon yet on this performance, but I'd keep him in there for Saturday.

Very good game from all 4 lines, and really all D-men too. I thought Downie was... a little slow, but he definitely played better in the third. Connolly looked fantastic out there tonight. Hall/Thompson/Pyatt should really stay together. They were holding the puck in the zone like champs against that top line and had some great scoring chances.

I'm just not seeing it with Connolly, sorry. He's playing with two of the best players in the game and can't get anything done. He's diving all over the place and I don't want that on this team and he is still committing penalties even if the refs only gave him 1.

i disagree with this, I posted in the connolly thread also. I think he fit right in with Vinny/Marty all game long. He did have the 1 bad dive, but that'll stop with maturity. His offensive awareness is very obvious to me, as well as his quick hands.

By getting anything done I assume you mean points, but IMO he had plenty of close chances. He is not ready to anchor a line or anything, but if he plays with hussle and his vision we are a better team with him in the lineup. I am not sold on if we should keep him or not, but it is nice to have another offensive minded player in the top 6.

I loved the lines tonight, except Bergeron/Gilroy...that was scary but Gilroy actually played well except for the 2 mistakes, one with gloving down the puck and the turnover in front of the net.

Great win, finally they played as well as we know they can do (they can play even better). We just allowed 17 shots which was great!

Connolly looked good tonight. I liked the effort of the Godfather line (Downie-Moore-Jones).

Things that are supposed to happen did: goalie stopped the puck and the skilled forwards scored (except for the midget)

Add to that, staying out of the box and not giving the opposition 6+ power plays, playing tighter in front of said goalie, keeping the shots down and reducing the quality chances. Playing like a team to support each other.

We'll see if this is the start of turning the corner and getting back into a winning groove.
