HEADLINES

-The Wild face Edmonton for the 2nd time in this early season coming off a SO win at home in a 2-1 win vs. Khabibulin. They were bad at the beginning of the 1st period, but played very well for the rest of the game, they'll have to play well as the Oilers sport top picks Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. They will come with speed, and could give the Wild defense fits if the Wild don't control the puck well tonight.

-The Wild have been practicing breaking out the puck of their own zone a lot in practice lately, and less about wrapping it around the boards as the Red Wings were able to keep them in their own zone for most of the night on Saturday night. They will have to make smart decisions and not give away too many scoring chances.

-The Oilers are coming off a loss to the Flames 2-1 on Tuesday.

-How will Bulmer play tonight? Will he stay on the 4th line or will we continue to see him getting more time, his FA clock doesn't start until the 40th game of the year, will he be sent back to junior after his 9th game? This game might be one that decides it, but a few seem to agree that he has a good chance of staying.

-The Wild have had bad starts or bad periods or lapses where their game just isn't very good. They will need to be better and they know it especially Mikko Koivu who only has 3 points in 6 games, and is without a goal. Same with Dany Heatley who has failed to score in 5 games and hasn't found much open ice.

-Last game, the top line was broken up with Bouchard jumping to the top line, and Setoguchi playing with Cullen and Latendresse. It seems that now they will still be playing together, but playing on their strong-side wings. They have only produced 1 goal in the past 5 games.

-Lastly, we get to see the one and only Cam Barker tonight which is always a treat.

the kids will have us gassed. Bulmer will try to take out someone.
Watch him get in a fight with Eberle or something.

So am I right that this game starts at 6:30 AM here in Finland? If so, it's great.

edit: Oh wait fail, isn't it 4:30 AM? I can't count to potato!

As I said in the Bulmer thread, now that we've broken up that top line, I want to see Bulmer used as motivation for other players. He's shown he can skate with the second line, so if someone's not playing hard to the whistle, I want to see Bulmer in his spot on the next shift. I want to see the same for Cullen/Brodziak subbing in for Koivu/Cullen.

Come on, Wild. Can I get a win for an early b'day gift? How about a solid effort for 60 minutes?

I'm not really sure what to expect. The Oilers have a lot of young guys with speed and plenty of gas in the tank. The Wild could get overrun early, or come out guns blazing. Hopefully the latter.

I'd settle for a couple points from Koivu.

We outplayed them last game here, and they sneaked out with a point. We have to play with that intensity to win tonight. Let's go get it boys.

Even though we always win, is there any team that is more boring to watch than Edmonton? That team couldn't make chemistry together if given a cup of a water and a couple aspirin tablets.

When was the last exciting Eddy game? I remember in 02-03 they were so exciting to play against...they were the last team for us to beat and Eddy had some talent.

Hopefully Eddy can be entertaining....late game for me at 9:30...if they are as bad as usual, might be early bedtime.

Ugh, Eddy again? Why do we have to play this dull trapping team six times a year? Does anyone even want to watch Craig MacTavish's boring old conservative defense at this point? I don't know how that team has season ticket holders anymore.

Until the Wild turn it around, I'm going to have to go with Eddy: 4-1.

It gets better: we play Eddy six times before Christmas.

Yes please.

I call Butch with a Matt Cooke-style elbow on RNH, taking him out with severe concussion. Then he truly gets mad, skates over to the Oilers bench and delivers his infamous baseball swing to whoever looks at him the wrong way.

Only in my dreams...
