Not only that, but Belanger absolutely embarassed Backstrom on that shootout attempt. It was only sheer luck that it rang off the post instead of tying it up. The other two shooters for the Oilers just made bad decisions on their plays, and made their moves right into Backstrom. Those should be confidence boosters though. As simple as the saves might have been, he had two shooters take accurate shots on net and he stuffed them both.

The team as a whole is just one SO win back from last season's total...after 7 games.

This win doesn't mean much if we don't come out with a great game tomorrow. It sure seems that way at least. Our defense has been really really bad at breaking the puck out, and the chances have been there against Eddy especially, but we have to start burying these chances. I'm sure there's some growing pains with this new system?

I think it's changing the mindset of the players. The system is similar, but they are having more demands being made. My gut tells me Yeo will start to shift ice time soon to reward certain players while others struggle.

I bet we see some of the top six move around a little (Cullen for Koivu or Seto for Butch). I also bet we see Schultz-Stoner a LOT more and Zanon-Zidlicky a LOT less (especially if Falk comes in). I also hope we see a more even split between Backs and Hards so they get some rest.

I think the players know what Yeo wants to see by now...it's a matter of execution. The players who make those changes should be given more ice time while the players who can't or won't make those changes should be limited.

I will say this, Bulmer looked great last night. I'm thinking he stays here the whole year shifting between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines, but in the lineup every night.

Every time I say something about Bulmer to my fiancee, I mention how he's a little *****. She was confused about how that meant I loved him until she saw him getting into it with the fans during the middle of last night's game.

Edit: still can't believe the forum edits out p to the rick.

Bulmer looks pretty good to me. I'm interested to see what happens to him in a couple of games here.

And I cant believe half of the **** this forum edits out. It would be really nice if we could turn the swear filter off on a per-user basis. A couple of other forums I use have that option and it keeps most people happy. In those places its on by default and for guests, but if you want you can turn it off and see everything uncensored. It also seems to really cut down on people evading the filter too.
