Hrm, thinking that Ferriero would be replacing Wingels?

10/20 Ferriero recalled

AHL transactions has Ferriero heading/in Newark to join team.

I might expect a handful of guys called up/assigned while on this road trip.

(Ferriero has five - playing - games left of waiver exemption.)

Could be precaution in case Havlat is still out, seeing as Wingels hasn't exactly been the next Gretzky. That or they want more scoring for the bottom six. Will be interesting to see how the lines shake out.

is any one going down?

if not that means the sharks are wasting a lot of cap space, if nobody goes down it means the sharks have a 26 man roster lol.

21+Ferriero = 22. When Havlat gets activated that would be 23.

(Stalock, Niittymaki, Sheppard, McLaren = IR/LTIR so don't count against roster.)

no they don't technically count against the roster, but don't they still while injured get nhl money and technically count against the cap?

It'd make sense if Wingels was sent down tomorrow or Saturday considering how close they are to Worcester.

so stalock, mclaren and possibly sheppard wouldn't of been costing the sharks cap space for the 3 and 4 games they were up.

1 way contracts have no bearing on waiver eligibility. It simply means they get the same salary in the AHL or NHL. McLaren, Niitty, and Sheppard are all waiver eligible. I doubt Sheppard will be waived because he just cost the team a pick and they are not going to take the chance.

I actually think that Desjardins may come out of the line up for a game or two. A. Murray can play center so a Winchester/Murray/Mcginn (or maybe Ferriero) 4th line wouldn't surprise me. With Ferriero filling in on the 3rd.

I think Wingels will come out of the line up as well. Not sure if he'll be sent to the AHL quite yet though.

I think management has Desjardins on a pretty long leash. Judging from the off-season comments, DW seems to have high hopes for him and will probably give him every chance he can get to succeed (similar to McGinn last season, who was sent down a little after the half-way point).
Wingels on the other hand sorta jumped the depth chart in training camp but hasn't done anything impressive during the regular season. I assume (or hope) that he's the one getting sent down. He needs another year in the AHL and doesn't have the skill-set to be a fourth liner (unlike McGinn and Desjardins). Ferriero at this point is also a better option on the 2nd/3rd line.

For those asking about Ferriero - if you go by jersey colors in practice, looks like he's taking the place of Desjardins. For now, anyway.
Interesting.

Haha, I think he got himself in a bit of hot water. He lost his cool and I think it's a deserved sit if so. His game was terrible against the Ducks (skill and IQ).

I don't know what to think about where Wingels will end up. I do know that management has always talked a big game about not having guys develop in the press box.

I agree with you on how DW has spoken of Desjardins. I was a bit shocked when I read those comments as well. Not too often that you see Doug do that.

I think Wingels was a good experiment, but I do think he needs to grow as well.

if DJ gets sent down before Wingles then i must have missed something. If anything, move DJ up to the third and replace Wingles with Ferry-O.

No one said anything about Desjardins being sent down.

I don't necessarily think that Ferriero is gonna stick around very long. As LS mentioned, he has 5 more NHL games (played) before he has to clear waivers and I don't think the org. will expose him to waivers.

The team is in a funk, Ferriero is a good player that can play just about anywhere. Desjardins had 2 rough games, having him sit and watch a game or two isn't gonna hurt him.

I agree on both accounts. Jack-of-all-trades Ferriero is. Good at nothing, but average at everything.

A game or two in the press-box won't hurt Desjardins either. But in the end, I hope that Wingels is the one sent down.

Average is dumb.

I would disagree with the statement that Ferriero is average. I think he has some elite skill but is held back by his size, if he could get stronger I think he'd shine. Really I think he needs more ice time, and the only way he gets it now is injury to a top six or a reconfiguring of the lines to favor 3 scoring lines.

Well, his size is what makes him average. He just needs a good off-season to build more muscle.
His circumstance is a bit unfortunate though. He's at the point where he's dominant in the AHL and has probably learned all he can there, but he isn't quite ready for full-time NHL duties.

Yes let's get Wingels the hell out of here. For now. He just isn't ready yet.

Sounds like he (and Havlat) will both be in the lineup tomorrow:

Sounds like Desjardins will be scratched.

Top 6
Mitchell - Handzus - Wingels
Winchester/McGinn - Ferriero - Murray
