Report: Iggy turns down multi-million dollar offer from Flames
Jarome Iginla has reportedly turned down a 5 year/$37.5 M offer from the Calgary Flames ($7.5 M a year) according to various reports out of Toronto. Sources indicate that "Iggy" - as he is referred to as in hockey circles - is looking for a one-year deal (and 1-year deal ONLY) in hopes that the new CBA will lower the UFA status from 31 to 28-years-of-age. Apparently Jarome Iginla has developed some animosity towards Calgary GM/Head Coach Darryl Sutter over the departure of his linemate (and best friend) Craig Conroy.

BUT, when it is all said and done I'd have to believe that Iggy's deal will likely be a 3-year deal. Iggy is loyal to the Flames and the Flames are loyal to Iggy that is one of the reasons that he chose not to go through arbitration.
Interesting. I did read on another board that Iggy and Conroy went to Sutter to work out a contract ala Kariya and Selanne last off-season. I would like to hear this from someone more credible then Bill Watters. I still think Iggy will sign a multiyear contract with us.
