Who do we call up? Andrew Conboy?

It is a major issue.

I believe we have a good team (especially top 9) if they are utilized correctly with the right system. Dump and chase does not suit the style of players we have. I have no idea why Martin has them playing such a passive system.

Not only is it ULTRA boring to watch, but it is killing our team.

I have never seen a team fail to make such basic 10 foot passes.
minors aren't drained...we have nice pieces with eller, maxpac, price etc...
problem is lack of grit / role players, small at center and worst of all a dispassionate coach who doesn't use a system that fits players strengths

A guy who watched the Habs for 60 years called CKAC and told on air that they should fire Martin and hire Gaston Therrien.

Guess time watching habs =/= hockey knowledge.

I didn't see the halos surrounding Eller and Gorges. As a matter of fact, Eller was knocked around when he was in the Pittsburgh zone.

Might be a sobering wake up call if we continue to play like crap.
I'd tend to agree with you if Martin didn't start juggling 12 forwards. It was as pathetic as the players' performance. What was it, three shifts in that he decided to break up our best line these past two games?? From there on out, every player played with each other it seemed. Really all over the place.
I also don't know who is in charge of the PP, but it's horrible. There's no reason for it to be so poor, really there isn't.

Wuut. Didn't he won cup the year before?

Denis Savard also got fired begining of season..

Eller has escaped criticism. He's done little thus far, yet he's been the fair-haired boy (literally). There really hasn't been much of what we've seen of the Habs to cheer about. One relatively dismal game after another.

I loved Eller through the neutral zone and gaining the Pittsburgh zone. He looks great handling the puck and when I looked at the statsheet (the whole shot attempt thing again) after the 2nd he and Gorges were the few Habs with positive numbers. My praise for Gorges is entirely stat-sheet based: I'm horrible at analyzing defenders with my eyes so I rely on counts more.

Eller may not be strong enough on the puck yet, but from the looks of things I think he's taken another step in his game. Considering he missed training camp that's very encouraging. Assuming the Habs can find a 3rd-line centre, Gomez will be expendable at the end of the season.

It's one thing when you lose when you give your all but it really sucks when the team loses when they play like they don't give a crap.. The Habs need something to light a fire under them very soon or this season will be lost..

It was, like, 3 seasons before. The Habs missed the playoffs the (lockout-shortened) year before Demers was finally fired.

edit: Here's the franchise index.

Brian Wilde voice of reason? lol:

Bottom line though, the #habs will get healthier, more experienced, and better. They have to stick together for these the 6 toughest weeks.

Also, NHL feels to me like a physical league again, and smallish team is struggling to win puck battles and down low 3 on 3 cycles. #habs

Another thing, the #habs were not prepared to go to start the season. Too many players in camp held on too late. Other teams had the jump.

And another thing, and this is on the coach, the lines are being switched too often and no one is getting comfy with each other.

For one thing, you don't break in 2 completely inexperienced D and 2 D with limited experience and expect no growing pains. #habs

This is where twitter gets silly. JM is not getting fired 7 games into season. He wouldn't get fired soon even if they were healthy. #habs

So much more of a physical presence for Pens, and the worry for #habs fans here is it's more lack of ability than will.

Our defensive core looks really bad. Structure falling apart at any sign of pressure, no transition game at all... Hamrlik is sorely missed and will be all year.

Wasn't sure about the Cole signing but wanted to give it a chance ; it looks now like it might be a huge bust : the guy seems to have no clue how to play collectively. Without Staal as a center, his numbers might plummet.

Gauthier totally failed his off-season and Martin keeps puzzling people with inexplicable decisions. Only 10 days into the season and I am severely depressed...

PS : can't believe all the hate for Engqvist, as if the 4rth line center spot was the least of our concern at the moment
