Another thing, the #habs were not prepared to go to start the season. Too many players in camp held on too late. Other teams had the jump.

I agree with the part I bolded.. The last 2-3 games of preseason the majority of the regulars need to be playing together to gel some.. Very poor preseason strategy by the coaching staff..

Gauthier totally failed his off-season and Martin keeps puzzling people with inexplicable decisions. Only 10 days into the season and I am severely depressed...

PS : can't believe all the hate for Engqvist, as if the 4rth line center spot was the least of our concern at the moment

The Habs have a similar lineup to that conference finals a couple years back. To win, this team needs a goalie that stands on his head, and a PP that scores lots of timely goals. And so far, the Habs have neither.

And for those who expect Markov to be the answer, remember he's barely played any hockey in the past 2 years, and past his prime. Still a step up on Weber, but not going to carry this team on his shoulders.

I loved the Cole signing and still believe in him. But you have to wonder.....As far as Hamrlik is concerned, don't get me started. Incredible how 1 more year was soooooo problematic, yet, we've acquired and given tons of years for players we won't know what do with real soon. We HAD to sign Markov. He had NO choice. Markov, even injured, was the best player in the UFA market. But when you sign a risk, you need to insured it. And the insurance was at least a Hamrlik.

Molson should just go in there and tear down what's there previously and go with the staff they deem is their staff.

I could never agree with you on that if Carbonneau's most loyal backer had to fire him.

I will never understand how they chose Gill over Hammer. Seriously. This is as bad as the Gomez trade.
I don't think Gill would have been signed by any other team either.

But to be honest, I like our young Dmen. Problem is we have 4 of them. Management decided to let go the Dman that was mostly responsible for us not collapsing while missing our other key Dmen. Such a retarded move.

Remember when we had the best powerplay in the league and it was our bread and butter? The coaching staff on this team is a joke. The lines get shuffled so much you would think martin was a rookie coach, the guy has been around for years and has no ****ing clue.

We all know he's a trigger happy line changer, but tonight was something else. This was the worst line juggling I've ever seen. I don't even think Carbo ever had a bad game in that aspect.

Same here.

If they think it would have been a gamble to sign Hammer for two years, its a much bigger gamble to start this season with such a young D-core and a fragile Markov.

Didn't Carbo play Gorges at center at some point?

The first thing Martin did was put Pleks on the point on the PP even though he has proven completely ineffective there.

During the game played Kostitsyn a total of 23 seconds on the PP and constantly juggled his lines. I know the Gomez injury caused some of that, but come on.

Does Martin even have a clue about what the strengths and weaknesses of his players are.

Have the players tuned out the coach? Maybe martin's style has a quick shelf life like Keenan had.

It's not like Kostitsyn is one of the few (5 I'd say) players that are doing well this year or anything...
