Personally, I don't see us making a move lile this with the current player logjam we have but it would be funny as hell to foul up the Rags a bit. It would be worth it just to bury him ourselves in the AHL but I can't see it. But it WOULD be entertaining. I hate him as much as any player in the league. That said, he would be better than Rolston if he was not such an ass.

Avery doesn't bring anything that this team needs. This is the wrong type of move they need to make at this point in time plus it would block Nino's spot on the team.
IMO the Rangers are bringing back Avery to spark their team. They have been flat and as Joe Thornton said "soft." Heck, Thornton even went on to say they were the softest team the Sharks played on their roadtrip
Furthermore as one thing was noted at the bottom of that article
"...they could hurt the Rangers on the ice and within the cap at a quite reasonable price."
This move would not be to make the Islanders better. Otherwise, they would have not let Avery clear waivers the first time. However, they are doing this in order to hurt a division rival who is making this move out of some sort of desperation, so it appears.
If this was XBOX, I'd consider it. But the last thing the Islanders need is a distraction. Sean Avery is living, breathing, locker room poison. This wouldn't be ****-a-doodle-do blocking the Rangers, it would be ****-a-doodle-do blocking ourselves. Don't do it.
Didn't he try to fight Snow when he was talking to Shanahan awhile back too? I really doubt Garth would bring someone in that tried to fight him in the hallway.

They can't just bury him in the AHL he would have to go on waivers again. If the Islanders claim him he is on the roster

Yep. Botta had that story a while ago. It was after a game when Shanahan and Snow were just talking. Avery started yelling and cursing at Snow. Shanahan told him to knock it off and leave. Botta even said the Rangers brass apologized to Snow for the incident. I really don't see him putting in a claim.
When was the last time the Post was right about the NYI's? Or really anything?
Garth is going to be "coy", he was ****ing coy about taking JT 2 years ago. Its called being a good poker player and ok GM
I almost feel for these Raggies fans that have to read this garbage. ALMOST.
This was nothing more than Brooks running with the fact that McKenzie merely speculated that it would be "interesting" if the Isles were to claim Avery on NHL Network yesterday. Seems like Brooksy has been taking lessons in journalism from Eklund.
Id rather claim 6'7 dman Boris Valbik who was waived by PIT
He was waived twice last season and we still had the same need, don't see us making that claim. Valabik is barely NHL material in a 5-7 slot, defiantly not the top-4 D we need. If we did not have Mottau here as another warm body for depth I'd say go for it.
