Joe Thornton's 1000th game tonight!

If Hal Gill didn't make you feel old.

JT's played 1000 games in the NHL? Really??

Ah... the memories. Just the HF memories alone warms your heart.

This is going to be like the roast of Charlie Sheen.

He may have gotten credit for 1,000 NHL games, but he only showed up for 47 of them, mostly in October...

Was a huge Thornton fan for a long time, including with the Sharks.

But with his ridiculous comments about the Bruins getting the benefit of suspension calls because of Campbell, I think he can take his 1,000 games and no cups and shove them up his a**.

Saw an interview with him on NHL on the Fly about 20 minutes ago with EJ Hradek

Gave Pat Burns alot of credit for easing him into the NHL also gave Bourque, Sweeney some love

And said he was very happy the Bruins beat the Canucks in the Cup and that he has a lot of great memories in Boston

They showed his parents in the stands. Wonder if they'll make the 5 hour drive to Boston for tomorrow's game...

I met his parents back when Boston played NJ in the playoffs seasons back. They told me they were driving down to NJ for the next game. Very nice people.

Kinda ironic Thornton is playing his 1000th game against the team he played his last game as a Bruin against. I liked him when he was on the Bruins - might have a jersey or two - but definitely didn't care for his comments about the suspensions thing, but he's a stand-up guy for the most part. Was nice to the fans in Boston when he played here.

Good on Joe.

Since we won the SC last year, I don't have anything against Joe or any other player that played in Boston at one time....including that skating zit Kessel.

Yeah I had no ill will towards him until that BS. Joe's just bitter towards the entire organization and it shows. He can go **** himself as far as I'm concerned.

Congrats to Joe. No ill will here. He hates Jacobs, and that's his right.

Congratulations Joe

I'm one who finds no value in disliking a player UNLESS he's done harm to a Bruin - Ulfie comes to mind. I don't even hate Kessel (gasp) though I'm really happy with the result of the trade that sent him to Toronto.

Joe got the C about five years too soon and had a skating style that made it look like he's loafing. He was run out of town by the cogniscenti and a panic stricken GM. Unless you try to stretch credulity and work back through a few generations - the Bruins got nothing lasting for Joe.

Though I bear no ill will against Gill, between the two 1000 game celebrants I'd rather have Joe back.

Last I checked Jacobs didn't trade him, MOC did that in desperation bid to salvage his job. Fortunately (?) he botched it so badly that it ended up being a huge nail in his coffin.

MOC is long gone and so is Thornton and he's still bitter, so... whatever, Joe.

The guy that revitalized the San Jose Sharks. Awesome force in the regular season, often had trouble translating that to the playoffs. Nonetheless, one of the more successful guys in the league. Even though his point totals have dropped lately, I get the feeling that his overall game has improved, and maybe even enjoying it more.

Considering the Sharks are synonymous with playoff chokes, that may not be a good thing.

He always is when he plays boston now. Even shoots, which is saying something.

Why does it always have to be a matinee?
