There were many posts implying a loss to the Islanders as an embaressment.
Looking at FLA lineup and I just don't see anyone that scares me, offense, defense or Goaltending...I can't believe we lost to them opening night...I'm not hoping, and looking for an overtime loss....I'm EXPECTING to win this game. We did not play well in Tampa and they are a good team. Florida however I just don't see it, play fast and smart and we walk away with a win.
We have to get a better 4th-line option than Gillies.
I'm probably in the minority but I'm a fan of having Gillies in the lineup almost every night.
I see it as the obvious police presense but also if you want to role 4 lines you can always double shift an actual player with Reasoner and Martin....IE a PAP, Okposo, Grabner...I don't think it should take away from our actual lineup but having him on the bench is a big thing IMO....We need him there

Agreed. You just see those kinds of posts against us in many other GDTs and I hate it. It's the quality and insight of posts that count, not "omg insert player here scores!@!!AS"

Teams in every sport have guys that are there for locker room prescence and motivation, and in this sport an enforcer that fits that role and can go and take care of business if need be? That's a great thing to have.

You'll always see two scenarios:
1. Gillies in the lineup, Tavares & co. isn't touched. If it's a loss, fans complain that his space could've been filled with a more able player. If it's a win, nothing is said.
2. Gillies is not in the lineup, Tavares & co. get abused. If it's a loss, fans complain that our young guys are getting run. If it's a win, fans suck it up and mildly complain.
The answer? Get a guy that can play AND protect. Scott Hartnell is a personal favorite. Until then, either 1 or 2 will continue to happen.
I don't think Booth will be in the lineup tonight. He was traded to Vancouver with Reinprecht for Sturm and Samuelsson.
Sturm and Samulesson for Booth!??! Common, thats horse-**** from Florida. Yes, he has injury issues but Booth has way more value than that. Sturm is another 3rd liner and Samuelsson is a fringe 2nd liner who got to play with two of the best players in the league.
And I love how Florida threw in a pick and a player, lol. I would definitely not do Sturm and Samulesson for Booth alone.
